Parfum d'Empire Corsica Furiosa - as green as they come, but raw, earthy, and plant-like; this is a heap of lentisque and tomato leaf, moss, and faint lime that dries down to green hay.

Chanel Sycomore - a different shade of woodland green, this is led by damp vetiver and cypress, brightened with sparkling aldehydes and a whiff of violet, over a smooth sandalwood base.

Mugler Cologne - the ultimate green soap bubble, by far the easiest wearing green in my collection; neroli, petitgrain, vetiver, and musk.

Aramis - dark green leather chypre, with strong galbanum, artemisia, oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver, sweaty cumin, and of course a massive leather base. (Cabochard is a lovely alternative that may be more wearable; less sweat-soaked saddle, more smoky florals.)

Caron Yatagan - another green leather chypre, this time without any florals whatsoever but heavily dosed with herbs, animalics, and vegetal strangeness; pine, galbanum, watercress, basil, mint, oakmoss, patchouli, artemisia, and castoreum. Easier to wear than it sounds.

Interesting selection Toxicon, and thank you for the detailed descriptions!!

By the way, I haven't seen Green Spell by Eris Parfums in anybody's top five. I'm curious about this one and is definitely in my to-try list even though it doesn't seem easy to get where I live. According to some reviews, it's in the line of fragrances such as Synthetic Jungle but done lighter, less resinous and more wearable. Similarities to Corsica Furiosa are also commented (the tomatoe leaf accord, I guess) What are your thoughts about Green Spell? Is it worth the money in your opinion? Please forgive the off-topic

I haven’t tried Green Spell, unfortunately. Corsica Furiosa is wonderful but perhaps not to everyone’s taste-it’s more earthy than fresh, and very plantlike. It also wears like a natural fragrance - never particularly loud, wears close to the skin. I’m usually an undersprayer but I like to spray this 4 or 5 times to get work day longevity.

I can give 3 from my wardrobe that I don't think have been mentioned yet in this thread, that I think qualify as really nice green fragrances:

Worth Pour Homme (very old-school, a bit like Paco Rabanne Pour Homme)
Jasper Conran Aegaen (a fairly recent release, but reminds me a bit of CK Eternity)
Wings for Men

I was briefly excited by the mention of a Guerlain perfume I never heard of, but am now assuming this was an error?
The error, in my opinion, was Guerlain discontinuing the Homme line - save for the Guerlain Homme EdP.

The EdT, L'Eau and even the L'Eau Boisee (I think) have all been discontinued. From the really nice mojito accord (lime, mint, and rum) to the cool Pininfarina designed bottles, these just spoke to me in that I don't know what kind of way. I'm just grateful that I have them in my collection but will reach for them rarely now. :(

Hmm, 5. Could be tough. Lots have disappeared since I last looked.

L'Ombre dans l'Eau would have to be in there. EDT version... my wife bought me the EDP version thinking more is more, and it's too much, too astringent.

I always think of things like Paul Smith Man when I think of green fragrances, and it's not considered an amazing scent but it was the first fragrance I bought for myself, I'm still a fan of it so as long as I can still buy it I will have a bottle just to have a change up for Eau de Cartier. Just the green violet leaf parts of Fahrenheit with all the brutally strong floral notes stripped out (which is where the gasoline comes from), on a vetiver base.

Eau de Cartier has kinda taken over as my go to leafy green.

Lalique Hommage a L'homme is another very enjoyable violet leaf one. But I understand it's discontinued?

And I guess the Guerlain Homme line is green (although L'Eau Boisee is mainly a smoky vetiver and I don't associate Vetiver with 'green', it is too rooty/earthy). I have GH EDP and it's a great pick.

Made it to 5!

Not 100% sure of what constitutes a green fragrance, but I have

  • Guerlain Homme --haven't spent much time with it, but it just doesn't smell like a mojito to me.
  • Lalique Hommage a L'homme --very enjoyable tobacco(?!) fragrance
  • Polo --just got this one and love it. My only grip is that I go noseblind to it, even though I'm racking compliments 8-10 hours later.
  • Does Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver count as a green fragrance?

Hello everyone,

In recent years my interest in the genre of green fragrances has grown a lot. I'm very curious to know what your personal top 5 green fragrances would be.

To make it easier, please let's limit answers to fragrances that you own in your collection at the moment.
Good question. Skimming through the replies, it does seem like I have a slightly stricter idea of 'green' than most people, but nevertheless here are my 5:

1. Floris 1962
2. Gucci Nobile
3. Tom Ford Beau de Jour
4. Villoresi Spezie
5. L'Artisan Premier Figuier

Oud Minerale isn't green enough to qualify but the seaweed note deserves an hon mention. As does Eau d'Hadrien EDP.

Clive Christian 1872
Houbigant Duc de Vervin
Paco Rabanne Pour Homme
MFK Masculine Pluriel
Essential Parfums Bois Imperial

Honourable mention to Tom Ford Vert de Bois and Gucci Guilty Love 2021
This is a good list that I quiet like as well.

Papillon Dryad
Guerlain Vol de Nuit EDT
Chanel Pour Monsieur EDT
Chanel No 19 EDT
Rogue Fougere L'Aube
Lauder For Men

Yeah, I know that's 6 but it just feels wrong excluding Lauder For Men!

🤣 Haven't tried Sultan Vetiver yet but was very tempted to do something similar and just list Dryad 5 times! 😄

Currently:
1. Chanel No. 19 Poudre
2. F. Malle French Lover
3. Puredistance Antonia
4. Piguet Futur
5. Mugler Aura

No. 19
Polo
Basile Uomo
Erawan
Soft Lawn

I have a love/hate with Oud Vert Intense too.

Chanel No. 19 is on my short list of fragrances of green fragrances to spend some time with this spring. Is there any notable difference between the EDT, EDP, or Parfum?

I'm not sure I know what classifies as "green" except for obvious ones. Here goes:

1. Grey Flannel
Damp, wet day, out door, over cast day, green.
2. Paco Rabanne Pour Homme
Funky bow chika wow wow green soap.
3. Polo
Ashtray, cigarette, outdoor, pine needle green
4. Luck You for Men
Clean, invigorating, fresh, green.
5. Al Rehab Dakar
Concentrated, sexy, bad boy, with-a-hint-of-pine, green.
I want to try Al Rehab Dakar, but the notes listed by this seller in the description don't seem close to producing the scent you describe. Maybe it's a mistake? 🤔

Yeah, I don't know what those notes are for. The listing is clearly for Al Rehab Dakar by the title, but the description is way off. And they have a 97% rating, so maybe they're sending out the wrong fragrances and aren't keeping track of what they're listing or selling. Maybe there's another Al Rehab fragrance that has those notes and they got it mixed up.

There's no vanilla, caramel or oud in Al Rehab Dakar.

- Guerlain Vetiver (ribbed 2000 bottle)
- Paco Rabanne ph (vintage)
- Loewe Esencia
- Patrick
- Irisch Moos
(- Quorum)
Guerlain Vetiver is probably the classic Green Vetiver fragrance but the original Esencia Loewe was the signature scent of Spain/Italy in the 80s. The scent of pine forest combined with modern aromas chemicals contributed to its success. I would add Aramis 900 to the list. If anyone can better analyze Esencia Loewe and Aramis 900 it would be greatly appreciated. I am sure that for that one would need to be good at running GC/MS equipment.

I think of Aramis 900 as being very rosey 🌹 rather than green. 🤔

In no certain order:

-Takamaka Kreolfleurage (supported by Jasmine and Ylang Ylang that make it almost intoxicating, but does really well in the heat. Haven't seen reviews for it anywhere online so maybe I'll write one up)
-Theseus (feels alive, but not exuberant)
-Beach Hut Man (Unique, very green. Feels like the undergrowth with mint inside a treeline on a beach)
-Philosykos EDP (Beautiful fig tree)
-Roadster (Has a unique grassy sensation that I can almost feel, haven't experienced in any other fragrance. Unique.)
-Yatagan (Realized this makes 6. Earthy, piney, animalic. Really a must try.)

-Mousse Illuminee (I really enjoy this, but find it hard to wear on occasions that I'll be indoors or in enclosed spaces. This is LOUD, and keeps going.)

I’ve narrowed down my personal top 5 greens from 10.

-Polo (Cosmair)
This has got to be included. Gets a bad rap from some because of negative associations with certain banker types in years gone by but the scent is superb. Blended to perfection.

-Bois du Portugal
Classy, bold, wakes you up when you spray it and the drydown is on of my favourites.

- Mousse Illuminee
Green, mossy, spicy and absolutely massive. The scent of happiness. Nuff said. Full review here.

- Insignia (Shulton)
Often overlooked old school 1980s, aftershavey, piney, mossy. Glorious spicy amber fougere. Someone needs to look at this one and turn it into an EDP.

-Sport de Paco Rabanne
Nothing around like this today. Green sporty fougere. A light translucent patchouli with a zingy fresh lime, sweetened with sandalwood and spiced with a hint of clary sage. Spray this on and you’ll be reaching for your gum soled tennis shoes.

Creed Green Irish Tweed (I'm seeing a trend here lol)
Chanel Platinum Egoiste
Rogue Bon Monsieur
Acqua di Parma Colonia Club
Margiela At the Barber's

Bonus cheapie category - Jaguar For Men and Bogart One Man Show

Out of left field pick - Recently picked up Royall Lime cologne and I want to bathe in it this summer.
