I have spent a very limited time with this category of fragrances, what are your current favorites that smell excellent and perform excellent?
ashy-smoky; both FB worthy and easy to wear
Jacomo de Jacomo
Jacomo by Jacomo is dark and moody but not smoky.
The smokiness comes from the clove coupled with the sort of ashy tone one finds in many powerhouses (IBQ?).I agree on the Jacomo as being dark and ashy. I don't know whether it's intentional or not, but I do detect a slight smokiness in it. It could be an olfactory illusion, but regardless it's a great scent.
