Chopard Black Incense Malaki is a nice, dark, smokey, mysterious scent that's not too expensive. I like Amouage Interlude varieties, as well. Tobacco Oud Intense is rather dark and a little smokey. Laudano by Nero Tiziana Terenzi fits the bill. I have Amouage Silver Oud out for delivery and have heard this fits the bill as well, but will have to report back upon receiving and testing it out later.

I just sprayed Silver Oud for the first time.

Yeah, this is dark, mysterious and smoky. If you caught Sebastian's review on YouTube, I would agree: imagine taking Interlude Man and sucking all the sweetness and green notes out. After about five minutes or so, it does start to get a little bit of sweetness to it. This is an interesting one, that's for sure! Going to have to see how it develops.

P.S. There was some debate as to whether this was part of the Library series or not. I can confirm it says on the side of the box, which, by the way, feels so tiny, it's part of the "It's all about..." series that began with Rose Incense.

I agree on the Jacomo as being dark and ashy. I don't know whether it's intentional or not, but I do detect a slight smokiness in it. It could be an olfactory illusion, but regardless it's a great scent.
The smokiness comes from the clove coupled with the sort of ashy tone one finds in many powerhouses (IBQ?).

A lot of great suggestions, although not all dark and/or smoky. The ones I love, fit that description, and that I would also recommend:

Bois d' Ascese by Naomi Goodsir
Also adding LM Black Oud
Ermenegildo Zegna Passion
Tom Ford Noir Anthracite
Perris Monte Carlo Oud Imperial in edp & extrait.
Tauer Lonestar Memories
Anatole Lebreton Grimoire
Unum Io Non Ho Mani
TF Noir Anthracite

Unum LAVS
CDG Avignon
Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au The Noir
Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero

And yes, I confirm the following statement:
Pretty much anything by Beaufort - dark and smoky is their signature.
In particular, Tonnerre 1805, Rake and Ruin, Coeur de Noir and Vi et Armis.

I would also add:
HdP - Petroleum
Akro - Smoke
Montale - Dark Aoud
Valentino - Vendetta PH
Elie Saab - Essence No.4 Oud
DS&Durga - Bowmakers
Timothy Han - On The Road
Vilhelm - Smoke Show
Gucci - Guilty Absolute

And a bunch of incense forward fragrances:
ELdO - Attaquer le Soleil
Miller et Berteau - #2 Spiritus/Land
Miller et Berteau - #23 Newsletter
M.Micallef - Shanaan
Odin - 07 Tanoke
Franck Boclet - Ashes
DS&Durga - Mississipi Medicine
Atelier des Ors - Bois Sikar
Chris Rusak - Io
CdG - Hinoki
Tom Ford - Bois Marocain
Just Jack - Moroccan Green

Gucci Pour Homme, the coveted 2003 version. Wore it for the first time in a long time a week or so ago, and fell in love all over again. Dark, smoky, incensey, smooth, not sharp. Hard to find, hard to beat.

Or Encens by Issey Miyake

Excellent juice and smells like something Chanel, Dior or Tom Ford would have placed in their premiere lines.

I’ve also found that it draws compliments if that’s of importance.
