Good morning all !. I never had the inclination or imagination to layer so I'll be sitting out this week's synch. I had already planned to wear something in memory of Joy and today will be all about her 💚

Synching today with a layering combo that allows me to clear 2 scents out of my inventory.
Giorgio Armani My Way (sample) + Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry (10mL)

Kayali makes decent layering scents. I think they designed the line this way.
Lovefest Burning Cherry was good enough for me to finish the bottle, but I'm not rushing to replace it. I'm not a huge fruit-dominant scent fan.

The My Way is a no.
"Orange fruit" top - Claiming bergamot and orange blossom. Reads "passionfruit." Ick.
Poison-school tuberose structure -I struggle with Poison, we have a grudging relationship.
Unmemorable woody aromachemical musk base.

With Lovefest Burning Cherry - improved fruity floral tuberose with a more wearable base.
The Cherry dominates the mess at the top of My Way, adds more woods, and amplifies the vanilla at the base.

I smell...fine.
I'm not repeating this experiment.

Morning all.

In sync. I was thinking about summer and ways of extending summer scents for coolness, so I've layered AA Orange Soleia with Le Flocon de Johannes. They both have a mint note, with de Johannes being much stronger in that regard and icier, which I thought might add a fresher note to Orange Soleia. I think I've layered it the wrong way round, i.e., de Johanne on top of Orange Soleia. Not entirely sure that it works, but let's see what it does.

Have a lovely day.

Happy birthday dear friend. You are very much missed.

SOTD is 3 iterations of No. 19: body creme, edt & parfum. The edt is my least favorite version of the scent (the edp is my favorite), Layering the body creme with the parfum sweetens the edt & gives a very different sillage than any one of these variations alone.

Hello everyone :) It feels weird to think about that it should have been Quarry's birthday today....I'm thinking about her too today ❤️

I woke up to snow and slush. It's windy too so it doesn't really feel very tempting going outdoors... But we have to, since the shops will be closed until Tuesday. (Technically we also have tomorrow until 4 o'clock.... But I know I have a tendency to sleep in these days.) I'm happy to say I've started with my essay. I got 773 words out of 4000 so far. For the synch I decided on Cuir mauresque + Mandarine mandarin. I tried this combination as my sotE yesterday.
In the beginning you can smell the waxy leathernote in CM with a touch of the tea note from MM. It feels a bit smoky too. From yesterday I remember it develops into something more spicy after a while. Particularly cinnamon is pronounced over the leather. After this it gets a bit sweeter and almost balmy. In the end it smells a lot like Vtg. Cuir de russie edt, but with a touch of Tolu or something. I like this combination, but it's easy to get the balance wrong with CM sprayed and MM in the bell jar. Have a lovely day everyone :)

Hello all,
I'm still thinking about that dream Joy and I had for quickly beaming us over the oceans for a get-together with some other BNers for perfume talk and sniffing (over a couple of drinks and laughter) in a mountain cabin.
You are sorely missed.
I'll toast on your life project and the impact you had also on BN.
Cheers to all <3
SotE will be Vol de Nuit 1990s extrait.

Good morning, all.

Hugs to everyone who is missing Quarry today 🫂 I wish I had been lucky enough to have known her, and hope that her family has a peaceful day and eve today.

Stay safe in that weather, @ineespenes 🌨️

I’m an absolute novice at layering, and never even attempt it because I find it so intimidating and potentially complicated. I chose the easy way out, and am wearing Bvlgari Rose Essentielle edp and edt.

The edp has a richer, rounder, jammier quality, while the edt has a bit of floral, citric freshness to cut the sweetness and the rose.

I am expecting some shoes to be delivered to me today, and I’m looking forward to that.

Have a great day ❤️

Best to All
(Friday Synch)
Pure Fiji coconut body oil & Coty Vanilla Musk
image.jpeg image.jpeg this was not bad, just a bit too sweet.
Al Haramain Amber Oud Gold Edition & Frapin 1270
image.jpeg image.jpeg this is a bit too powerful, and I'm not sure if I commit to it I won't be thrown out of everywhere I go today. + I have no idea how it will wear down.

and lastly; Al Haramain Amber Oud Gold Edition layered with Fiji Coconut is okay, it seems to soften it a bit.
Frapin 1270 with Fiji Coconut smells like I'm in the Caribbean and someone spilled their rum & coconut drink on me, in the best way.
Eitherway I am 'stuck' with Fiji coconut body oil ..... I will try the Frapin 1270 later.

Ah, Quarry. There's wasn't much overlap between her wardrobe and mine (although I always thought I should have tried her beloved Nanadebary Green), except for the classic Bel Ami that's in her Top Ten Most Worn.

So Bel Ami it will be for me today. And I'll try to tax my imagination for a scent I could layer with it for the Friday Sync, which shouldn't be too difficult since it's a classic elegant leather that ought to be hospitable to one of the many green companions I could offer it.

We still miss you, Madame Joy.

Happy Birthday, Joy!

I'm not much for layering so I'll sit the synch out, but I was thinking about green scents that @CeeTee should try so I am wearing the only green thing that I love, Chypre Mousse. It's not a sharp bitter galbanum green, but a soft mossy green with a mineral edge. IMO, seldom has a fragrance been so aptly named as it does smell like a chypre mousse to me.
