SOTE is my grandmother’s vintage No. 19.

The first photo is of my maternal grandmother (all of my vintage Chanels, Hermes and Diors were hers) and grandfather (plus uncle, aunt, and cousins). The second is of my paternal grandmother (the Shiseidos and some Diors were hers) and paternal grandfather (and two aunts). All four of my grandparents have passed.

I wear their scents and am filled with love. Have a great night! I’ll delete these photos sometime tomorrow, just wanted to share.

Beautiful family, Kosui!

Good morning everyone :) Today I have the day off, as, well as the rest of the weekend. The plan is to visit my bf's dad in Senja. It's about two and a half hours south of Tromsø. I haven't packed yet, so a bit stressed now  For the synch I let the random scent button decide for me. It chose Jaisalmer and I'm happy :) Have a great day everyone :)

I am looking forward-ish to plumbers coming to unclog my guest toilet. They say they will remove the toilet, do the work, and replace the toilet. It will take 1 to 2 hours. I have a little voice inside my bad head telling me to ask them to clean it while they're at it.

This is not my bathroom--mine is more what you get from a custom home whose buyer reneged on the contract at 75% completion. Pretty standard. This is still how I will feel.

I am happily in sync with the easiest reach in wardrobe, a very great favorite that I have used through multiple bottles. Appropriate for all occasions, including rotorooting. Afterwards....when I am peeing with great abandon in a working bathroom, I may need something stronger.

I didn't know there was a Highgrove Bouquet. is Penhaligon's working their way through all the great houses of England? That would be a cool thing to do.

When I read that, I thought for sure the scent was going to be either Salt Caramel by Shay & Blue, or Kiehl's Musk. You fooled me.

Good afternoon, all.

Safe travels to you, @ineespenes 🧳

Enjoy your new toilet, @Shycat! 🚽

A late spray today - I noticed the sync just in time to participate.

Twinning with @Shycat today … Rose Essentielle is 100% my most favorite and easiest reach, any day of the year. This is actually the very scent that led me to Basenotes in the first place. I have more backup bottles of this scent than any other in my wardrobe, purely because it means so much to me.

Thank you so much @JON RODGERS, @tdem1961, and @HouseOfPhlegethon, for such kind words ❤️

Happy Friday, everyone!

I didn't mean to. I came to Basenotes by way of Black for Her by Kenneth Cole. I smelled that one on a woman at a meeting and thought it was lovely. Strong. I didn't understand the concept of sillage or even know the word at the time. Black for Her was an object lesson in the meaning of sillage. It perfumed the room within six feet of her, and as she circulated afterwards I kept getting whiffs. I asked her what it was--truly a fateful question.

I can't recall buying it, although I certainly did and still have it.

After a few week on this site, I went out sniffing and looking for a true rose. The forgotten fragrance I'd come to sniff--actually, pretty sure it was Stella...was very disappointing to me. On the other hand, when I tested Rose Essentielle I bought it immediately. I continued to sample and buy true rose soliflores and have worn more of Rosarium and Elisabethan Rose and Fleur de the Rose Bulgare, but I've had Rose Essentielle ever since and rank it in my all time top ten. Perhaps it wasn't always in my top ten as I went through phases of various fragrant love affairs, but it's been out on my bathroom counter as essential ever since. It doesn't inspire rapture or awe, but it is always lovely, peaceful, pleasant, and unobtrusively satisfying. Comfortable.

And I remember with crystal clarity the finding of it and the buying of it. It's one of those memories that my mind has converted into a third party memory--I seem to recall it as though I were floating 15 feet off to the side and watching myself with Rose Essentielle in my hand.

Tha't beautiful Shycat. I was also surprised by your pick.

Mine for the Sync is: Bang by Marc Jacobs

A dumb-reach, in every sense of the word. I hate the packaging and Marc Jacob flashing himself in the ads. I find Marc...well not very intelligent, in my opinion. Anyway, this sh*t smells great, I'm always reminded of the Iso-e-super "Greats" when I wear it: Terre d'Hermes. Hermessence Poivre Samarcande, this one, the Cdg & Monocle collaboration Hinoki...many more...I'm sure I am forgetting some.

Happy Friday everyone, last night was a turning point in my flu-recovery, I did not have night-sweats last night and I only had 1 coughing fit (not the usual handful) - I slept for 10 hours. Feel so much better today, but not 100%. Slow healing...which is still healing!

Beautiful!

All of this talk of BRE is so ironic - I came across a pile of old catalogue books while cleaning today, some of them being Bvlgari.

In the first book I grabbed, amongst the glossy pages of jewelry and watches, there is only one women’s fragrance in the entire book - Rose Essentielle ❤️

Morning all.

In sync with Jo Malone's Mimosa & Cardamom. A very dumb reach for me, as it was the first bottle, albeit 30mls, that I bought when I first started my adventures in fragrance. I still very much like it.

Have a fab Friday.
Jo Malone Blue Agava & Cacao kicked off my fragrance obsession. That was back when Jo Malone was exclusive to Neiman Marcus, around 2006.

I'm back from India! There was WiFi only in the reception areas of the lodges where I stayed so no updates to you, sorry. No perfume wearing, either. All the conservation parks had signs posted prohibiting perfume and deodorant. I was expecting to see a few tigers, mostly hidden in the grass. But a lot of the tigers didn't mind being in the open, so I saw many in all their striped majesty. All in all, I saw 25 tigers, some with December-born cubs, and a leopard on the last day. Also tons of beautiful birds. It was a wonderful trip.
