What IFRA compliant oakmoss do you really like?

Aug 19, 2021
I have the oakmoss from eden botanicals and the Robertet one from PSH both IFRA compliant, they're both quite good, but I have one from Mandy Aftel that blows them outta the water, problem is its non IFRA compliant.

Can anyone recommend some more IFRA compliant oak mosses out there?

I use the Payan Bertrand(Grasse) OAKMOSS ABSOLUTE IFRA 48 that Chris sells.

Payan Bertrand describe this material as: “Mixture of oakmoss extract (Evernia prunastri Ach.) and natural, nature identical and synthetic aromatic products.” in their Technical Data Sheet.

Fireco Oakmossis wonderful as well.

I have the Robertet Oakmoss from PSH, purchased recently. I will admit I'm not a fan of it. I feel it's missing something. It has an iodine top note to it that bothers me. It's missing that marine/salty air-like top note.
I also have some vintage Liberty Naturals Oakmoss Absolute (purchased late 2000s-ish) that I tinctured years back and still have an almost full bottle of non-compliant Oakmoss to make more tincture from. It's extremely rich smelling and smells like a forest floor. It's beautiful. Grateful I have a lot to use still.
I tried the Robertet version and it just pales in comparison but I'm not concerned about IFRA compliance since I don't make scents for others.
The Eden Botanicals one I'd like to check out as well. I really love their products and they are so fast with shipping.
I tried the Givco Oakmoss years back and it didn't work for me. It gives the aura of oakmoss but it's missing the obvious thing, it's not natural.

Hope others provide you good info on your quest.

I mostly use the LMR one which is available through Christine at PSH if you email her. I also like the biolandes low atranol but in the end the longevity and general beauty of the LMR wins out.

I would also be curious to try this LMR oakmoss. So far I haven't been impressed with the compliant oakmoss. The one from Robertet is OK, but if I'm after the real effects of this beautiful material, I love the old school oakmoss, nothing can compare. The one from Slovakia at Liberty Naturals is really my go to for most blends.

Wonder if thats the same one Mandy offers, it really is mind-blowing how much better the real deal is.

My question is, people were wearing these perfumes with shed loads of real oakmoss for a very long time before IFRA and before these regulations...I'd like to know how many people have been seriously harmed from wearing a perfume with real oakmoss?

So ask Christine for Oakmoss LMR IFF? must be the good stuff hidden behind the counter.
"LMR, or Laboratoire Monique Remy to use its full name, was founded by Monique Remy in Grasse, in 1983 and acquired by IFF (International Flavours and Fragrances) in 2000."

Of note, Monique's daughter Frédérique is the founder and owner of Floral Concept. I can vouch for both companies.

Christine sold me the LMR oakmoss, but you can also buy LMR products from Excellentia if you can get them to reply in a timely manner. They're not as bad as Penta but so far I am experiencing a two-week email reply period. This is a big problem in the world of business in general right now so it may not be unique to them.
