Today I got Caron's Pois de Senteur extrait, full bottle. Gorgeous yellow flowers, soft as silk, fresh and smooth, divine!

So, they’re continuing the Crown Collection. Have you ever smelled the 1990s Town & Country? I’ll be interested in comparing it to the new CC version.

The 1990s was the Barry Gibson-revived Crown Perfumery, pre-Clive Christian acquisition. Gibson hewed as closely as he could to the original Crown formulations. I’ll find/take a pic for you later, when I’ve got a minute. (I’ve never seen a 1925 bottle.)

La Treizieme Heure XIII by Cartier

I'd been watching like a hawk for a discounted bottle of this scent - one of my absolute favorites. Found it today, in the newer presentation, BNIB, with cellophane, for $111. Happy day!

It's actually been a few days but I picked up Amouage Royal Tobacco. I was in the Scent Bar neighborhood and have wanted to try African Leather.
That didn't grab me but I had spritzed a little Amouage RT on my wrist.

Twenty minutes after I left the store it kind of grabbed me, so circled back.

Not so much a "tabacco" scent to me really (would never pass muster with Brooks Otterlake). But nice touches of anise, licorice, and a pronounced fenugreek which it turns out I like. A bit of a maple syrup vibe, but not as overpowering as immortelle can be.

I usually make one pricey buy per year, so I guess this is it.

A 3rd Moschino Friends set from the same ebay seller...I couldn't resist at £35, as it is my favourite fragrance from the last 20 years, a delightful and long-lasting citrus scent which evokes the Italian seafront, from the nose of Olivier Polge. I would speculate that Friends is often available at bargain prices for a discontinued fragrance as it gets little love, nor is it often discussed, on this site or more widely amongst fragrance collectors.

Hi Nick, they are 75ml EDT sprays, with 50ml each of shower gel and aftershave balm of dubious quality completing the sets, but I'm pleased to get 225ml for a good price all in all. I wore and got through several bottles of Uomo in the 2000s but haven't revisited it in some time. Friends was widely available in airports on discount when I used to travel more often and before it was discontinued, which led me to try a tester in the first place and buy a bottle, but there seems to be a lot of stock on the aftermarket, so with patience, it can be found at low prices. Undoubtedly my favourite Moschino fragrance however is Pour Homme from 1990, a leather masterpiece whose quality and relative scarcity mean it commands much higher prices than Friends. It is also a rarity in another sense, as having just looked it up, it has 100% positive ratings from esteemed Basenotes reviewers, which, in my view, is fully justified.

Certainly can't disagree with you on Moschino PH being the best masculine from the house @sunnymitra, it's one of my favourite leathers, but I prefer Fendi and especially Trussardi! Who would have thought carnation in a leather fragrance could be used in a way that makes it smell as modern as Moschino? I was expecting something more like Knize 10 and was pleasantly surprised!

That gift set is still a damn good deal considering today's prices for Friends!

100% positive reviews from Basenotes reviewers is indeed impressive, they're very discerning and a tough bunch to please!

Because these are legends and my acquisition bug is guilt-resistant.


The Samsara is intoxicating, almost overwhelming - a dust storm of sandalwood, subtle yellow peach flesh and florals, but mainly sandalwood. It's almost like it gets more intense the longer you wear it.

Vent Vert I'm still analyzing, but there is that radiant green of what must be galbanum with floral notes woven in. The violet isn't terribly loud, but peeks in and out. More complex than it seems at first, and I get sandalwood in the drydown. I'm a No. 19 fangirl all the way, but this is entirely different. Like being in a meadow where the grass, pollen, and flowers are exploding in growth.

I can't believe I passed on this initially. Met with the most helpful SA and spent good time at the counter. Never would have thought I'd leave with this, but wow, it smells amazing and performs excellent. It is very unique.

Now, oh my, I need to slow down a bit... I've just bought Adorem by Le Nez 1+1 éditions, a very dark, sooty, burnt sort of frankincense composed by Fabrice Pellegrin in collaboration with a French chef, Akrame Benallal. Now it's become a real stunner in my books. I didcovered it thanks to Persolaise's review of it in a video and I adore it. They tried to express the colour black, and it works wonders, it is so deep I could dive into it.

I've also bought Shalimar Philtre de Parfum, because I've been hesitating for a while, and knowing that the fragrance is now going to be available in 125 ml bee bottles only, well I snatched one of the last bottles in a local store. Fresh and bright but not simplistic at all, it's nearly as beautiful as Shalimar Cologne - the discontinuation of which I will never recover from. 😔
