After loving Egypt by this house, I blind bought a smaller bottle of the original with interest. Reviews crossed the whole spectrum. True or not, the history gave it a name of interest! Maybe the name gave it the history

Hey there! May I ask how you procure trial sizes of the Exclusifs line?
i would love to be able to do a couple of wear tests without one sniff in the boutique and making a snap decision. I just got 31RC, which I love.

Then, I got carried away and got Bel Respiro, too. Gorgeous! However, after re-evaluating, I decided I’d like to try more options before committing to the FB. (Luckily, I haven’t opened it yet.)
It really is beautiful, but I need to pump the brakes after this go-round. I need to be sure it’s the one.

Where do you find them?

I thought I gave up on MFK as the recent price increase for Canada (approx 40%) is just ridiculous IMO.

But flying through CDG airport today in Paris, I had to take a look at the Duty Free Fragrances. 70ml of Grand Soir for €117 and 70ml of Masculin Plural for €110? Yes please! Done.

Can only speak for myself - I've found Chanel samples and decants sometimes pop up on ebay. The brand still makes it frustratingly hard to sample, but I've found carded samples of several Chanels (and at times I've seen a wide range of carded samples of Exclusifs). Also had good luck getting decants of Sycomore EDP and Antaeus in the past via ebay, and just had to trust that the sellers were sending the right juice and note watering it down. So far, so good.

If you want patchouli you should give the original Givenchy Gentleman release a try. One of my favorites for patchouli.

I’m so happy for you and your Chanel journey! This is exciting stuff.

With the Chanels (or something like Hermes or Dior, a house that I know I love), I usually resort to a FB, even on a blind buy. It’s a rare occurrence that I come across one that I don’t like within those. However, if I’m truly unsure, or if I’m trying to be responsible and not be so impulsive with a lengthy buy, eBay has been great for me with samples and minis. Great customer service as well, if I ever run into an issue.

Ive never been crazy about this one but it’s very well made and I’ve always planned on buying a bottle, especially since prices are reasonable.
Now that it’s discontinued, I’m guessing pricing is going to go up, I figured now was the time to get one.
Not sure if I’m going to get the Intense version too, I don’t have a sample of it anymore and it would have to be a blind buy.

While a highly regarded and celebrated perfume, I did not like Platinum Egoiste as I found it too metalic--and too strong for my taste. I have and love the original Egoiste. Going to save the Platinum for you young people.

Yesterday, after an extremely appreciated tip from a kind basenoter, I lucked into a killer deal on the elusive and painfully good Fille en Aiguilles by Serge Lutens. I was afraid to jinx it in case they ran out of stock, but I just got a shipping confirmation… fingers crossed it arrives safe and sound.

This was the first Lutens I tried, after an another extremely kind basenoter did a sample giveaway in the Free to a Good Home thread. It was by far my favorite sample from the lot (and it was up against other favorites like Dryad and Paris-Edimbourg). Despite my great fortune in finding a top 5 scent by random chance, I was incredibly sad to realize FeA had been moved to the expensive/exclusive gratteciel collection… and even then is rarely in stock, so prices were already astronomical. Scarcity led me to to explore the rest of the Lutens house… which led to a flurry of acquisitions and new favorites. So thrilled to finally get my hands on this! It will be my 12th bottle from Lutens, and if my carded sample is an accurate representation of the current juice, FeA is still my favorite of the bunch.
