Tundra, Sojuz. Circa 1980.

The opening is very dry and bitter. Then, a slightly green note appears. I'll check the evolution on my skin.

EDIT the drydown is delicious: warm, green, slightly spicy. I'll wear it more, in order to really "feel" this scent.

I would call the Dioressence “vintage edt.” From browsing listings, that seems like an older packaging. I don’t really know, but I think it’s from before 2000.

My vintage scent of the day is Balenciaga Ho Hang Club

For this and (Cosmair) Polo, I have bought multiple bottles in one order from the same seller, having been bitten by the "good deal" bug. I'm talking clearance pricing. Maybe I won't actually make it through seven bottles of Ho Hang Club or Polo - it's nice to have a lifetime supply.

From what I know, Tundra is not easy to find, which explains nobody heard of it (including me, before buying it ;)
There is a spectacular twist: the bitter-dry note recedes very quickly, to a very nice green-herbal scent.

Hmmmm...What's the closest perfume does it compare with? From your description, I'm thinking Quorum?

Révillon pour Homme (1977).
(One of the quintessential scents of the 70s to me. Similar in some ways to Yatagan and Phileas it's the overall pineyness that brings me back to that best decade for music and culture. But there is a fantastic lavender, two of my favorite florals in carnation and geranium and heavenly oakmoss to accompany the pine. Performance is the Achilles heel here but I get a good few hours out of it and there's always the Haute Concentration version if desired.)

This was one of those impulse buys off Mercari. If anyone knows which iteration of Dioressence this is, I'd be grateful

1980s for sure. Raiders' site has good coverage for dating that era of Diors.

Here's a photo of the Dioressence flacons offered in the '80s, I think from Grace Hummel's site:

Poivre by Caron, le parfum

So gorgeous! Jean-Ste put up a beatiful antique advertisement for this stuff in the 'Vintage Advertisements' thread.

I only wanted it to earn her approval.

I'm curious to know if the Dec Essence won Dr. T's approval. It's rather Eau d'Hermesy, not sure how she feels about that.

What can I do to earn yours?

I hear there are frequent openings for cobblers on the Stoller Estate.

This afternoon going into evening, I layered vintage 1960s Bal a Versailles on top of the Ensar Oud Sultan Red Rose Parfum that I wore today. Amazing! In my opinion, vintage Bal a Versailles perfumes (the perfumes from 1962 - 1973 overseen by Jean Desprez himself) have aged incredibly well, and in my opinion, vintage Bal a Versailles is the perfume of the 20th century (not Jean Patou Joy or Chanel No5). This vintage Bal is a rich, sweet, intoxicating fragrance. consisting of an incredible mix of rose, Tibetan deer musk, civet, amber, and Mysore sandalwood (the quality of these 1960s components is no longer available). I have read that people think the fragrance is not complex, but that is only because the maturation of 40+ years has so intertwined all components into a seamless, distinct, euphoric smell. The rose and oud in Sultan Red Rose only enhances the rose, civet, amber, and sandalwood in Bal and adds an oudie dimension.

Post-note: (1962-1973) Vintage Bal a Versailles is what Areej le Dore, Ensar Oud, and many other artisanal natural perfume artists strive to re-create and what many niche/indie perfume connoisseurs seek for their pleasure. The quality of ingredients from the 1950s and 1960s included rose and jasmine (and many other flowers which were grown in France before fields were relocated to northern Africa and elsewhere), wild Tibetan deer musk, wild harvested Abyssinian civet, ambergris, and Mysore sandalwood. Does this not sound like a write-up from Ensar or Russian Adam minus the oud? I would love to see Ensar and Areej source some 1960s Bal a Versailles and add oud to form a new fragrance!!!!

To me it smells more like Jules and Arrogance and less Yatagan . Macassar smells similar to yatagan to me
