Thank you for your descriptions. Much appreciated !Jil Sander Man/Men II (1982)
(Much like her first masculine from the previous year Man II is a very distinctive, different and bold fragrance. With Man and Man II there's no doubt Jil Sander was hitting on all 8 and had her finger squarely on the pulse of late 70s/early 80s man. Rich, warm, bold, distinctly masculine. Nothing wishy-washy, unisex, soft or meek here.
My bottle of Man II features one of the worst working sprayers I possess. It's loudly squeaky and when it decides to comply it spits forth an anemic squirt/spray. That's the suckiest part of this bottle for me. I can't even imagine how euphoric it would be to have this working as intended. There's no doubt my bottle would be far less full. There are times I just don't want to deal with the sprayer issues.
Anyway the only notes I've seen listed are Iris, Oakmoss, Castoreum and Benzoin.
What I get mainly from jump street is a nice, strong oakmoss and an inky castoreum. The oakmoss is bitter and a bit musty in a good way. The inky castoreum and Benzoin gently sweeten the pot. Again @Colbourne hits the nail on the head with his description saying among other things it reminds him of "dust on vinyl records, the smell of 8-track tapes." He's spot on! It does indeed smell of these things, an almost plastic smell while also soapy and quite unique. I don't know that I detect much of the iris but it's probably blended in there and contributing to this one of a kind aroma. I suspect some of the top notes here have gone the way of the Edsel but what's left is enough for me to strongly like this. I would say the the preceding Jil Sander Man (Pure) is for me a love.)
