My vintage scent of the day is Chanel Bois Noir.
It's a lot like Egoiste, maybe indistinguishable. To me, it feels like a good fit for the festive month of December! I'll try to keep with it - it has been great for a little over an hour this morning. Santos is its direct competition for the month. I might play around with comparing different versions of Egoiste and Santos, a fun-sounding project.
Fashion de Leonard.
This was sealed; a pre-1977 (no EMB code), splash version of this 1970 release.
Research showed that the notes on BN and elsewhere are for the 1993 onward fruity/floral formula.
A translation of the official release notes list apparently includes: "Jasmin from Grasse, Bulgarian and Morocco Rose, Iris, Lily of the valley, Ylang-Ylang from Bambao, Bergamot, Java Vetyver, Mysore sandalwood, Cedar from Lebanon, Oakmoss from Yugoslavie, Singapore Patchouli, Civet, Castoreum, Musk, Ambergris, Cardamom, Coriander and Encens." To me, so far, it's mostly moss and civet; lightly floral only briefly, with a nice patchouli. Kind of woody too when I look ...
More 'yellow' than 'green'.
Really nice. Quite understated, and definitely unisex.
A bright Chypre, with what seems to be an increasingly smooth, leathery, and slightly urinous base.
