That time of the year folks.
But first wishing you all a Happy New Year. Hope this year is way better than the last.

The old threads can be accessed here
First 4 years(2016-2019) : https://www.basenotes.net/threads/428077-Vintage-Fragrances-I-bought-today
2020: https://www.basenotes.net/threads/472610-Vintage-Fragrances-I-bought-today-2020

This might become a quarterly thing if the thread becomes too big.

2020 was a year where I slowed down my purchases. The good news is PStoller picked up the slack and Ali AD helped out towards the end. So we did fine this year :)

I did get something good recently. It was a gift from a good friend and a star basenoter. Smells better than Pino IMO. Has a sweetness that Pino lacks.
FBW if price is good.

Re: Vintage fragrance I bought today - Q1 2021

Ah, yes -- another year, another 365 bottles for PStoller. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that Hednic isn't interested in buying up vintage bottles.

I'm trying to think of the best vintage acquisition I had in 2020. It might have been one that cost me absolutely nothing: a bottle of La Nuit parfum by Paco Rabanne, which was a gift from an amazingly generous Basenoter.

Re: Vintage fragrance I bought today - Q1 2021

Bogner’s Deep Forest has passively been on my purchase list for years. Every time I think about it I seemed to get side tracked by something else. I need to move it to my active purchase list. All of these lists are mental BTW, which is part of the issue.

As I think back through 2020, I’m not 1,000,000% sure what my best vintage purchase is as it was a slow year for me as well. However, right at the end of the year I picked up (from another great BNr. God, I love this community!) vintage Millesime Imperial and Green Irish Tweed. If that wasn’t my best acquisitions, then I don’t know what is and they’d only be perhaps 2nd best.

Here’s to 2021 being profoundly better than 2020, in every possible way!!!!

LOVE this one. I smelled it when I visited Zurich, Switzerland and it took many years of trial and error to figure out what I smelled.

That's only because he bought them all when they were new. But I did buy a bottle of Jean-Jacques Vivier Signature today in his honor. And, like Diddy, I almost bought Bogner Deep Forest before I got sidetracked. Ah, well: there's always tomorrow.

Well you do need 365 fragrances for 2021.
Start with Bogner. Good one.
As for Jean-Jacqurs Vivier, I have a mini and is OK.
I find my tastes a bit orthogonal to Hednic's.

I don't suppose there's any way to enforce a rule about eliminating mass photos from quoted posts, is there?

Someone posts a series of photos of 4 or 5 or 8 new bottles they bought, and then someone else quotes and reposts all the photos just to say "Congratulations!" and then someone else quotes and reposts them just to say "Nice choices!" and so on and so on... until pretty soon I'm spending a quarter of my day scrolling through repeated photographs.

Just sayin'.....

Also, I'd like to quote from Bavard's kickoff post for the new VSOTD thread, and hope it can apply here as well:

Also new, we are encouraging use of the multi-quote button ("+) to avoid even the appearance of trying to boost post count, which would be lame in the extreme.

By all means, delete photos in quotes that aren’t necessary for contextual clarity. And I love the multi quote tool, although it can be hard to work with on a cell phone and across multiple pages.

No worries... as soon as it’s officially 2021 I’m going to make a purchase of Deep Forest and be done with it. :)

A 1.7 of Bogner’s Deep Forest, as said. [emoji3]

Also, some backups of Green Irish Tweed.

You did not waste any time. Did you :)

Well, you know my tastes and I know yours... if you say something is needing to be added to the wardrobe then that’s just the way it’s got to be my friend.

Giorgio Beverly Hills for Men V.I.P. Special Reserve has been on my radar for a while. Grabbed a 5ml sample to see if I want to chase down a FB.

Lookin' good, AG! I'm trying to recall if you've had Egoiste before now.

Received vintage Patou Sublime today and I don’t like it. My memory must be faulty. If anyone would like to have it, please PM me, it needs a new home. I am giving it away as there is no way for me to tell if it’s gone off or I just don’t like it.

Sport de Paco Rabanne - I already have a bottle back in the U.S. (along with about 30 others), but who knows when I'll be able to go back and get it (them), so I re-bought it to be shipped here (as I've done with several others.)

Start with Bogner. Good one.

Somehow I have completely missed hearing about this one, but it sure looks interesting. Could you describe your take on it, epapsiou? Had you already sampled it or was it a blind buy for you?

From the things I've read about it, it seems to be a bit misnamed, as it's really not a "deep forest" scent? Most of those writing reviews on it generally describe it as a pleasant, somewhat short-lived powdery woody scent. Some even describe it as similar to Rive Gauche?

Thank you sir!
I’ve never owned the vintage, and I’m looking to seeing if it’s that different from the bottle I had around ten years ago.

Is this a healthy colour for JPPH?
How much do you think it is a fair price for it? Due to all reasons. I want to hear honest to the bone answers from all of you that felt and understood it by all means.

Thank you kindly fellas!

The color looks fine. A fair price? A tester with the notes list sort of makes it cooler, I think, but then I miss the cap, so it cancels out.

Fair price. I wouldn't sell a bottle like that if I had it for less - that won't work - the number would be too high.

Based on the listings I've seen, and what I've paid, something in the neighborhood of $450 would be fair, I think. Much more than that, and you could just wait for another listing. If someone wants to move something like that, in my experience, and has no interest waiting for 18 months, then $350 should be plenty.

I can use the cap from my other bottle that I have like 15ml left...so no big deal! :)
so arround 350-450 ballpark it is just fine.
Gotcha! Appreciate it Bavard.

Any other opinions are more than welcome!

Color looks darker than usual. But could be the light.

Color looks fine. Original retaill for the 90ml was $90 when it launched as I bought it brand new when it came out. As this one is missing the cap, I'd say no more than 33% over original retail if your planning to buy it.

I'll use the cap from other one I have tiny bit left...
No worries.

I am wondering how much $90 in 80s would be today?
