How does this compare to the modern Les Parfums Mythiques version?
At my best knowledge, it is the bottle I pictured, but I could as well have received an early 2000's first edition of Les Mythiques... I'll have to double check. Anyways, the top of the juice I have is a bit finer, more elaborated, while the base is identical to the current one. The variation in the top could very well be just a variation due to the aging of the juice.

Recommend me a Vetiver, please.

I have Sycomore and it's in my top five favourite fragrances, but too expensive for me to wear every day.

I have smelled Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire and find it to be simple and lovely, but also expensive.

I had a bottle of Guerlain Vetiver (from 2009) and loved the top-note but found the dry-down very aggressive and cleaning-product-y. Considering how beloved this fragrance is, I am curious as to whether or not this was a feature of the 2009-era of this fragrance? I adore all my other Guerlain fragrances.

I have never tried Encre Noire, Vetyver, Yatagan (and I love and wear Caron Pour Un Homme and 3e Homme in equal measure), or anything else. I am not particular about masc or femme choices, I wear it all.

Thanks in advance.
How about Grey Vetiver?
Even better if you can find it - Lubin Le Vetiver. And definitely Lubin Itasca, though that has a lot more going on.

For today's sync I tapped into my workhorse bottle of Terre d'Hermes, purchased new from Saks in 2006 and finally nearing the last few ml. Some days this shines on my skin; other days I can appreciate the craft, but it doesn't feel like "me". Today, it's working pretty well. The benzoin really came through in the opening with a quick punch of sweetness to underline the bruised orange. But the sweetness quickly recedes, settling into the mineralic base of vetiver, patchouli, & cedar, which I expect to quietly hum along for the rest of the day, airy and earthy at the same time.

Syncing with Montale Vetiver Patchouli today.

I have come to regard this as a Terre d'Hermes flanker of sorts. It opens with a bright, juicy citrus set alongside earthy carrot seed, but pretty quickly the base takes over. Vetiver, patchouli (pretty dense, slightly sweet, still diffusive) and cedarwood in the base, but less transparent than TdH.
