Do any in this price range have real projection?
Some do, but probably mostly old school powerhouse styles. From my collection of cheapies, Versace l’Homme, Roger & Gallet Open, and Bogart Furyo are all strong performers. I assume things like Bogart One Man Show and Lapidus pour Homme are even more intense (but I haven’t tried, personally).

EDIT: Grey Flannel and Giorgio for Men are also pretty loud.

I strongly suggest you look at the fragrances from Hawthorne. I got an email 30% off this weekend and they normally go $50 - $60.

I am going to do a quick rant on the word cheap. Cheap to me refers to something of low price and low quality. I know that was not the original meaning of the word, but that is what it has come to mean. I don't think it applies to the fragrances mentioned in this thread.

Most of these fragrances mentioned are considered "cheap" because they can be found at second chance stores, meaning they did not sell through their stock at the original retail location. Second chance stores like Fragrancex or Burlington buy some of the unsold stock from the original retail location for large discounts.

I noticed my sister who buys fragrance almost exclusively from bougie department stores often has a negative view when a affordable price is mentioned. I find it fascinating that some consumers will see the grey market or rack store price and make a negative impression of the quality of a fragrance. When in fact the quality has not changed from the time it was sitting on the shelf at Macy's for $120 until the the time it reached Ross at $60.

I prefer the term value. Value combines quality and price.

Hi Paul,

I agree with you 100% regarding the use of the word "cheap". In fact, I was planning to do a thread about this very issue.
"Value" is a good word as is "cost effective" (and perhaps, maybe even: budget). I've said several times here at BN that (for instance) Lalique Encre Noire" (and it's Flankers) are among THE best (so called) Niche quality Fragrances that one can purchase and the likes of Encre Noire represent (money wise) an outstanding "value" being so "cost effective". There is NOTHING "cheap" smelling about "Encre Noire" and this wonderful Fragrance is a welcome House within my "budget".

Lalique Pour Homme EDT & EDP
Lalique Pour Homme Equus
Lalique Encre Noire / Encre Noire Sport / Encre Noire A L'Extreme
Boucheron Pour Homme EDT & EDP
Boucheron Jaipur Homme EDT & EDP
Azzaro Pour Homme
Lagerfeld Classic
Zino Davidoff
Versace Pour Homme
Missoni Wave

These fragrances have a great quality/quantity to price ratio, as well as good performance & longevity.

I also prefer the term inexpensive rather than cheap.

The word cheap infers that something has inferior quality or worth.

Based on the pricing of online discount sites, some could be slightly off but not much.

Bentley For Men Absolute
Caron Le 3 Homme
Caron Yatagan
Givenchy Gentleman Original
Lalique Lion Pour Homme
Lalique White
Lalique Encre Noire
John Varvatos Dark Rebel Rider
Le Couvent Des Minimes Aqua Solis
L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Pour Homme

(Edit: wanted to add Zino, but not sure how it holds up nowadays since I found out it's actually still in production by Coty.)
