Tom Ford Amber Absolute Reproduction - Soma Parfums

I am a huge TF Amber Absolute fan and have owned decants over the years, but never a full bottle as a result of its discontinued status and high resale prices. For those that remember, a year or so ago the original perfumer posted the fragrance formula online in respect of the passing of a YouTuber who often stated AA as his fav frag. I found out via a UK Facebook Frag group that Soma Parfums have recreated TF AA using that original formula to exactly reproduce the scent. My bottle turned up yesterday and I am blown away. There is no doubt this IS TF Amber Absolute (albeit not in a TF bottle and with a stupidly titled Damber Wabsolute but hey ho).

I have no affiliation with this brand, no idea whether this is a limited run or permanently available and I don't know if they ship internationally (its a UK website and I'm based in the UK) but I wanted to share this with all the TF AA fans out there especially those who aren't lucky enough to already own it. Price was a stonking £52 for 50ml.

There is a Turkish fragrance brand which does a very good knock-off Amber Absolute , problem its obscure to find outside of Turkey and GCC.

It does look like the link to the Soma Parfums page has disappeared. Are they out of stock or have they been sued by TF?

Would have liked to try this one...

It's good, I own it but haven't tried the original TF. I may prefer Zegna's 'Amber Gold' though to be honest, works out roughly the same price
I've also bought the Moss Breches one too, I haven't tried it yet though. Got a whole load of new scents to work my way through, and not enough time!

Page not found for me as well.. I was curious if something like this might happen though since I would also have assumed if original perfumer gave out the exact details on how to make it maybe its a given it will never come back so to speak.. Im on my final decant of the OG as it is as well, so I use it pretty sparingly so was always kinda curious if once thats gone its gone for good.

It’s available again.

Thanks. Is there still no way to sample this?

I am informed doing samples are too expensive for them.

Are you in the UK, rum?

Ah, wilfred beat me to it. Yeah, check facebook. Someone will help you out with a decant I'm sure. I'd also give Parfums Vintage's clone a mention as well. It's not bad, it captures the majority of the amber aspects, although you can tell it's still not as good as nor identical to the original. There's a pungent white pepper note in it which is not particularly pleasant.

I had the Parfum Vintage clone before I bought this and as soon as this arrived the PV was sold. Comparing the 2 side by side is like night and day. I honestly wouldn’t bother with that one now unless you can’t easily or cheaply source this, in which case it’s an ok alternative. Just my 2 cents having experienced both.

$100.00 shipping to the US, lol.
They have recently found a new shipping partner in DHL, instead of FedEx hazardous goods. This has reduced the shipping fees by about half of what they previously were.

I ordered their three available parfums from their Etsy shop and shipping was $56 to US. Hoping to receive the package in a week or so.

Looking forward to trying these as there are some very positive reviews on fragrantica.

Just received my package from Insider Parfums this evening….(waited all day for DHL) 4 days to my door from across the pond. ⚡️

Wearing the Damber Wabsolute now….. (not yet in the directory) love it! Smells exactly like my small sample of TF Amber Absolute…😎 it smells amazing!

Thanks to Insider Parfums, OP and all for sharing this with the community. 👍

Wearing the Mossy Bridges now, really love it… I never had a chance to sample the original TF Moss Breches, this version smells outstanding.

The Tokyo Black smells great on paper… never sampled TF Japon Noir either. Might wear that one later tonight after a shower.

Kicking myself for not ordering two bottles of each… oof.

Looks like another new release is available now…. Sadly, I have not tried the original TF Plum Japonais.

Description:

Plum Harajuku, an evocative and enigmatic fragrance inspired by the energy of Tokyo's iconic Harajuku district. Our reimagined version of Tom Ford's Plum Japonais retains the essence of the original while incorporating a contemporary twist.

Plum Harajuku captivates the senses with its blend of Japanese plum, aromatic saffron, and a whisper of warm cinnamon. The heart of the fragrance reveals a harmonious fusion of gentle plum blossom, elegant camellia, and the rare immortelle flower, creating a sophisticated and unforgettable scent. As the fragrance unfolds, it unveils a rich base of mysterious agarwood (oud), refined amber, and smooth benzoin, harmoniously intertwined with the comforting notes of fir and velvety vanilla.

Expertly crafted for both men and women, Plum Harajuku is an olfactory exploration that bridges the gap between the traditional and the modern, the East and the West. It pays homage to the beauty of Japanese culture and the vibrant spirit of Harajuku, where the past meets the present, and individuality is celebrated. Immerse yourself in the captivating charm and refined elegance of Plum Harajuku, a fragrance that leaves an indelible impression as it lingers on the skin and in the air.

Will need to add a bottle of this to my next order.

I tried it and wasn't impressed.

A clone will always be a clone rather than the real thing, there's no way around that issue.
Wait are we talking about AA or PJ? Ive been thinking of maybe just biting the bullet and getting a full bottle of the amber absolute clone since shipping isnt as much. On that note sorta on topic.. has anyone ever tried.. Duas dolce and gabanna the one clone? Apparently I saw they have a clone of the original formulation of that now on their site and id be lying if I wasnt thinking about it. My OG bottle of that is on its last legs so and the newer formulations just dont do it for me the same way....

I was referring to Amber Absolute. If you can, I'd wait for a sample. Maybe you'll love it but it's a lot of money for a clone fragrance.

I'd also recommend staying as far away from Dua as possible. Try ebay for an older bottle of the real thing (I know that seems obvious, but still).
