UTIF would indicate before 1990. We’ve been calling this one the Place Vendome Version. Other than that I can’t put an exact date on it.
I've found UTIF to be very unreliable for dating fragrances. Quite frequently it's seen on bottles when it should be UTF.

If it was pre-1990 it would have Cosmair as the distributor. The 16 Place Vendome address was just after Cosmair and before Luxury Products both incidentaly divisions of L'Oreal. From my research the 16 Place vendome address indicates 1995-1999 just before LLC was the L'Oreal division distributing it.

If you read the RotLS pages for Armani, the information is there. Armani had the same distributors as Polo, Cosmair and then LLC, it's stated on those pages if the address is 16 Place Vendome this was used from 1995-1999, then from 1999 Luxury Products, LLC.

Edited to add: For future reference, there's a possibility that 100ml Ralph Lauren Polo's, Made in France with the 16 Place Vendome address actually date to before 1995, I've seen one with a batch code that suggests its from 1990 but this still needs to be confirmed.

The to 1999 doesn't change, from 1999/2000 they're Luxury Products but may still have the 16 Place Vendome Address as I've seen a Ralph Lauren Safari with the 16 Place Vendome address but also distributed by Luxury Products, likely dated around 1999/2000 when the changeover of the L'Oreal distribution divisions took place.

I have a Cosmair and a 2018 bottle.
i enjoy both…..ymmv
The Cosmair is richer and more, for lack of a better word, opulent. It very well be do to maceration and age though. DNA is still there, they are both undeniable Polo

Recently stopped by Bloomingdales and decided to give the new formulation of Polo a try.

After walking around for sometime, I was genuinely surprised of how good it smelled and bought a bottle instantly. The new formulation still smells great. Its coniferous, spicy, and smoky. Its still smells like Polo - but more modernized, understated, I remember the vintage being a loud powerhouse scent. This suits me better.

Vintage Italian Cypress is a top five scent for me. Surprisingly, I found the dry down to the new formulation about 80% close. Fantastic stuff.

Noticing new formulations' box doesnt have treemoss listed as an ingredient, curious to know what it is they use now.
Does anybody know how do the old treemoss (post cosmair) compare to the new formulation made in france?
Is the scent overall deeper due to the treemoss? The new formulation (france) seems to be smokier compared to my cosmair bottle, which seems to dry down to mostly cedar and leather.

If I'm reading the batch code correctly as 18K603 then 2003.
Interesting! You may well be right.

The PAC symbol or better known as 'Period After Opening' first appeared in EU directive 2003/15/EC adopted in February 2003 but didn't take effect until March 2005. There's still a chance of course manufacturers adoped this EU directive earlier than its enforcement.

I've always used the PAC symbol as a means of dating items with it on as after 2005 but clearly some could be 2003.

other side pic... no barcode... should be a good batch i presume?
It's really tricky dating Ralph Lauren fragrances from this timeframe because the indicators are not clear.

If it doesn't have a barcode it should be distributed by Cosmair, as most Ralph Lauren's pre barcode would have been Cosmair ones. 16 Place Vendome is an address for L'Oreal of which Cosmair was a divison. The 16 Place Vendome address was AFAIK used from early 90 to late 90 but there's also some in the mid 2000's. The short ingredients list was used from 1998 - 2004/5 when it switched to a long ingredients list.

So take your pick. 1/ No barcode should be pre 1990 but should also be distributed by Cosmair and should not have a short ingredients list. 2/ Short ingredients list AND 16 Place Vendome indicates late 90's onwards.

My instinct is from looking at the box is that it's late 90's onwards.

Finally got around to sampling a recent, stubby-sprayer iteration of Polo.

Definitely a step back in the right direction after the terrible luxury products batches of the early-mid 2010's, though still a little on the harsh side to me. It's closer to the original, but I'm still detecting traces of that unpleasant ashy note that I don't recall from the 90's. I think I'll go back for another try, but while I find it better, I don't think I can see myself buying a bottle.

As I said, a step in the right direction, but still not quite there for me.
