So the 2009 bottle arrived and it is lovely. Wearing it today. It is stronger, has a much wider top and bottom on opening, and is more natural smelling. It is absolutely worth seeking out older formulations I think although the newer ones are great. I can’t judge longevity but this is my new go-to bottle!

Yes, the older bottles are simply so much better. I think mine is an '08. I wore it this week, and three partial sprays easily lasted all day.

You can actually see through it if you shine a light or torch directly against it.

I bought 20K01 this summer. It’s like a neutered version of GiT. So sad. Gonna sell it.

I just sprayed some of my 17V01 and wow what a difference! immediately went online to hunt down some older stuff as what Creed are doing to their fragrances now is just horrible. Is it IFRA or just cost cutting? Either way it doesn’t really matter as I’m done with buying new Creed unless things change drastically. First World Problems I know

Glad you found your bottle to your liking. Although I have a very old bottle of GIT, all releases including the most recent bottles and iterations are just fine IMO.

Some use fragrances from 2008. These are 14 year old fragrances. I always thought that perfumes expire after 2 years and are no longer usable?

Up to how many years can such a scent be kept? At some point the scents have to go bad or have expired, right? I've always been afraid of a perfume running off and that's why I've never bought more than 3 perfumes. Otherwise I would certainly have bought a new perfume every month and kept it

If it's anything like my 2011, it'll be excellent.

I own two bottles from 2011 both held up pretty well. 2011 was a good year for GIT.

Swapped my Bleu de Chanel Parfum for a 50ml of this. Very excited to own it again and plan on using it often

Maybe take a second or third look at it, you might think differently. How was the performance? I still consider the best days of GIT long gone.

I find most modern Creeds smell pretty good in isolation but once you try them side by side with an older bottle the difference is pretty clear.

I’ve noticed people complain about current year Aventus and praising the batches from 2-3 years prior only to repeat the same cycle and start praising the same batches they were hating previously.

It makes me think there might be something to letting it age and improve over time.

As for GIT, I have a current batch and find it on the same level as my 2017 bottle.

Adding this information for those that keep track of batches:

I recently acquired a bottle of 17Q01 - the notoriously "meh" 2017'er. It absolutely dominates a 2021 or 2022 decant I purchased to make sure I liked GIT enough for a bottle.

Opening - massive violet and salty air blast. I swear it's the ambergris pushing into the top notes, but the "fresh cut grass" opening is around 50%, and the violet ambergris is the other 50%. Iris is just floating not really saying hello. The new batch decant is super heavy on the fresh open and not much else.

Heart - ambergris and violet, but stripped down beautifully. Iris really starts to push through more for that powder feel. New batch has no ambergris and super heavy on the Iris, but barely detectable after 2-3 hours. The violet dies down after an hour.

Drydown - 17Q01 lasts forever as a skin scent and is an ambergris monster. I put some on after a shower around 7PM last night. About 3PM today I split some wood, worked up a sweat, and sure enough it was blooming up again. Totally drydown notes of course, but it popped right back up with a little heat. It hasn't been particularly warm in New England either, so having it bloom that aggressively so late into wearing, while having a decently cool day was impressive.

The new batch is outright dead by 6 hours, totally undetectable, and I've *really* tried to make it work since I want GIT to be a fragrance I can wear for a lifetime. Maybe time will tell another story, but straight out of the sprayer there was an instantly detectable leap in quality between my new batch decant and 17Q01.

17Q01 is super heavy on the violet and ambergris, which works just fine for me since the "fresh cut grass" accord isn't meant to stay for hours (or rather chemically can't last for hours...sadly). It's actually really cool how strongly the briney quality of the ambergris comes through immediately. I was caught off guard on my first few wears, thinking "what the hell IS that..." but it finally clicked. Really brings out the aquatic nature of GIT. I remember trying GIT years ago and not really appreciating it. Over a decade later, it's all I want to wear.

I sincerely hope we see some new batches begin to shine in the coming years, but the new decant I've been using is incredibly poor performing. I don't expect a semi-aquatic to project and last for days, but I can't ignore the fact a 5 year old batch is leaps and bounds better in every measurable quality. A drydown shouldn't last any shorter or longer with some maceration, and this newer batch is fried within 3-5 hours. And I don't mean skin scent, I mean GONE. I'd chalk it up to skin chemistry, but the 18+ hours I got today from 17Q01 contradicts that possibility. Either reformulations killed the drydown, or there's some weird organic molecule interaction that requires years to occur to alter the components to a point where they are detectable for 2x to 3x longer. I'm going to go with the more logical possibility...

However, the cap color on the top is not golden (as i have seen other 100ML bottlels to be), rather its black. other features like the scent itself or the bottle seem to be legit, except the cap color. I was wondering if that's a ok or should I be worried?

Got a new 100ml bottle today as I had a 25% off voucher. Haven’t worn GIT in years. Smelled good, but I’ll see after a few good wears. Can’t compare to the older one I had as it is long gone. As long as it smells good and performs decent, I’m happy.

Hi guys, is it normal to see two batch stickers on the box of GIT? It seems like there was a new one placed on to the old one. Should I be concerned before taking the plunge? The website is a legitimate website from my country, and I've previously bought Creed fragrances from there without problems. Just first time seeing that a Creed has two batch stickers that overlap one another. I'm unable to peel it as the picture was provided by the shop giving me the option to purchase or not. Thank you.
