Just about to hit the first blind buy from this house, any suggestion, please?

Can't decide between The path(back catalog), Night song devotion, Oudh Batavia, Mogra Mayura.

Prefer a dark, heavy oud-based with or without a smoky note.

Many thanks.

Haven't sniffed that particular version of Night Song, but the former versions are wonderful. You *will* get florals there, so be aware.

My favorite oud from Teone is by far Aguru.

If smoke is your thing and you have a tolerance for spices, Wan Chai is probably worth at least sampling. Finally, Bulgakov LE is one that I didn't like at first and has greatly grown on me.

All of the above have ouds. I wouldn't consider all of them "dark", per se, but they are all very unique. I think Aguru is one of the most balanced, pleasant oud perfumes I own along with ALD's Oud Zhen. They are nothing alike, but they are both masterfully executed.

My two pennies. I think you will enjoy her work. It is impressive.

I always forget how good Zeeba is. It’s so simple, that I almost forget that the balance between the rose, Oud and sandalwood is perfectly tuned. It’s very light… no darkness here… and for a rose Oud I really appreciate that. Also, it wears like Kyara from di ser, without the patchouli and a different Oud in the mix but a similar weightlessness. What a fantastic comfort scent for me. It was practically my signature scent during the pandemic since I spilled a bottle in my room and had nothing to clean it up with but masks ;)

This has always been my favorite from Teone. I agree on all aspects you spoke about here. It’s such a simple but balanced scent.

How about Pagan Narcissus. I wore it yesterday. That thing is just exciting.

Not all fragrances have a song, but this one sounds like this:

Best of Pagans.

Wanted to echo the same re Aguru. It is a wow fragrance for me - a really a special experience. No 2 would be Polynesia, 3 Rosa Ltd Ed. Have owned/sampled all the back catalogue, but not all the newest releases yet. Some might not suit your personal tastes or be redundant, but tough to think any are poorly made IMO.

Wanted to say thanks to the BNer who posted about Rosa, typing on an iPad so difficult to find your name. Appreciate highlighting how exceptional it is. Wouldn't have sampled it without the comment. Thought OE was going to end the rose quest. Rosa has replaced it. TQ.

I think Aguru is the only one I have not explored. What are peoples opinions on Aguru attar vs. spray?

I’m wearing the two new Blue Lotus scents, Darjeeling and Tahitensis. They are both wonderful but Darjeeling is my favorite, it is even surpassing the original Blue Lotus for me. Will need more of it.

Dorje is amazing and I’m immediately ordering a full bottle, really special. Very terpenic opening due to juniper and frankincense, meditative drydown reminiscent of Tibetan incense. Ranks right up there with Bodhi Tree for my top Teone’s.
Could you compare the Dareeling version to the original? I've only tried the original and I like it quite a bit.

Okay, so I have Blue Lotus on one arm and the Darjeeling variant on the other. It does what it says - there is a wonderful tea note overlaid on the Blue Lotus base. This seems to make it more potent and a bit less dry than the original.

Thanks so much! I love tea notes, so I may have to try the new one too

How you getting them past spousal Customs? I guy who orders 13 bottles has to have a game plan!

For our upcoming 20th anniversary, I bought her the diamond engagement ring I couldn’t afford when we got married—with two decades’ compounded interest.

I think she’ll look the other way.

Been wanting to try these for ages, so happy there’s a sale going on, very very generous deals!

Unfortunately I’ve been at a standstill with choosing some blind buys, I keep fluctuating between The Path, Pagan Oudh, Oudh Batavia, and Kodama. Cocobolo seems like a no-brainer since it’s a steal, but narrowing down those 4 to 2 seems literally impossible 😰 hope the sale sticks around a few days while I decide, any opinions would be greatly appreciated lol

A number of these I’ve already reviewed in Sample of the Day/What Did You Try Today? threads, but I will post new reviews of the blind buys.

I was in the same dilemma just like you.

Got myself some of the oud-centric ones in the end after reading the reviews.

I went a bit nuts and ordered 13 bottles. It’s a good thing that my wife is very understanding.

Also that I haven’t told her yet.
I was on the brink of being irresponsible, tempted by the sale and a long time curiously about this brand (in no small part from your reviews). But I talked myself off the ledge. Even if I end up loving them I really don't need another brand with an extensive catalog to get into, having just started to dive into Hiram Green and the very expensive but impressive Profumum Roma. That and several of my favorite brands have come out with new releases as of late. The floodgates seem to be open following the production backups caused by COVID.

But we shall meet another day TRNP, maybe I'll dip my toe in if Scent Bar NYC has any of them on the shelf next time I stop by.
