Tabac Grande for the day.

This one is such a stunner, I can definitely see why this one is a best seller. I might need to get a full bottle of this one eventually. This one and the Deer Musk accord, I would need to consider more of these two.
You don't need to love SP or attars in general to love this one. Top 3 tobacco perfumes for me, alongside Jinkoh Store Vanilla Paradise v1 and the original Jeke. I have others that I really like, but these 3 are phenomenal to me.

For the evening wearing some Deer Musk Accord. This stuff is getting better and better to my nose. I can't believe I dismissed this one at first. This might become soon my favorite musk perfume. I can't believe that I actually say this, considering that I am not an advocate of vegan musk. This smells to me like high-quality aged musk pods, no bite, nothing sharp. Smooth animalic/primal goodness, earthy, chocolaty, velvety. And by adding some resins and other ingredients just rounds off the composition even more. This one is sexy as hell, primal as hell, and so smooth. Has anyone tried this yet? Any musk fanatics got their nose on it? The closest that I can relate this to is some aged Kashmiri musk that I have. Excellent on its own but I would need to try and layer this with some of my solifloral perfumes. I think the ways in which this one can be used and layered are so numerous.

So far Fougère Noir is my only Sultan scent but my goodness, I love it. Green, piney, with a perfect amount of brightness. And the sillage is incredible for an Attar.

Definitely wanting to try Tabac Grande and maybe Cafe Ambre later, probably when the weather is a lot cooler.
Cafe Ambre Noir is my favorite SP composition and it’s also my favorite tobacco composition from him. I think the complexity, transitions, and overall blending far outweigh Tabac Grande and even Tabacarum but I know I’m in the minority on that one. There’s something so special about Cafe especially in the far drydown where it’s this ouddy, Smokey pipe tobacco and amber. Ugh so good.

I wore Fougere Noir every day on a month long trip and I still love it. So so so good.

wearing Thebes grade 2 today & it is amazing! I can’t really describe it but for some reason on the wand it reminded me of un fleure de cassie a bit which I adore but on skin it’s more of a white floral that dries down into an incense / spice thing?

I found an old sample of Basmati Rose laying around in a cabinet I forgot about. This one is highly underrated from Sultan as I don’t see it talked about all that much. I never thought I wanted to smell like rice but this nails it in so many ways.

My girl wears this so often. It’s one of her bedtime scents and we both love it so much that I got her her own bottle. We both have a bottle now but I mostly let her wear it, it’s practically a signature scent.

I love the opening and the mid-stage of it. I actually love the rice accord in here, and I am a big fan of pastry accords in general, especially if they are not too sweet and if they are more on the savory side of things. This one definitely delivers, I only wished that that rice accord would stay throughout because at the end I'm left with a strong jammy rose and some sandalwood. But overall, it's quite good.

truly loving these

but

I am new to attars & SP (other than scarab & civet de nuit) so I am having a hard time recognizing & picking up notes bc the compositions are so dense

I assume that is normal & time will train my nose - it is interesting & fun having to decipher this new style

I am doing a swipe of the wand & then carefully dabbing it on my wrists - I’ll try a dot

I don’t put attars on my neck because I go nose dead. I usually do wrists or arms, tiny amount.

I went through the same experience as you when I first got into attars. They are extremely dense and often take a few minutes for your body heat to open them up. I’ve come to love the experience, it’s like the thing blooms (or like unfolding of Proust’s narrator’s childhood when he tastes the madeleine, if you are literary minded). I don’t feel like an attar becomes what it is going to be for many minutes, it’s like a pre-opening.

Yeah I could see this smelling great on a woman. It’s so perfectly unisex though. I’ve never smelled a rice accord before but I don’t think I need to after this one. It’s just incredible.

Usually in the summer I’ll do a dot on each ankle and a dot on my wrist. In the winter time I’ll put a dot or two on my sweaters and the aroma will last several washes and at least a month before fading out. All my bottles look new still even though I’ve gotten a dozen or so wearings with each bottle.

I think doing a tiny dot and dabbing your wrists and torso is the best way to go for the average person anyways. That way you get some on your core body area that will waft up from under your clothes. I think dabbing helps open up the scent a bit. These perform and smell differently on clothing verse skin too. I like to smell like tobacco pretty much every day so I put tiny dots on all my tshirts and collars regardless if I’ll wear them anytime soon. The scent will stick around for months on clothing. I have a jacket that still smells like Tabac Grande from months ago.

I'm trying Violette Noyee courtesy of a sample that was generously provided by Sultan with my last order.

Love this one. I can see the connection to Irisoir, however, they feel quite different. This one is very bright, more floral, with green/fresh facets, airy, and opened up. Lots of floral notes, violets, mimosa, hawthorn. and orris layered on a woody-resinous base. Irisoir is very dense and creamy/buttery, I get loads of orris and sandalwood there, almost has a chalkiness to it, some chocolaty facets, as well as some fruity touches on the top. Violette Noyee reminds me of a perfume that I love, Anatole Lebreton L'Eau de Merzhin. Open fields and florals. That one, unfortunately, although it smells heavenly, doesn't wear that great on me. After an hour or so I can barely detect it. This one seems to fill in that gap.
Thank you for circling back and giving your impressions. You've just made a sale for SP. Going to add this to my order that I'll make when those others are restocked (seems Paddington and I have similar tastes as Thebes I and Al Hareem are two of my favorites).

I also need Violette in my life. I'll need to ponder on whether to get 1g or 3g.

Poudre Noir
Cafe Ambre Noir
Cheval D’arabie (I rarely wear this but it’s a total love. I’m just not comfortable being in public with this one)

I think Cheval is the best example of leather in Attar based perfumery.

Lol:)). I know the struggle. I once wore it to the gym. I love my rough, barny ouds but as yourself I find myself wearing them more for myself. But every now and then, I leave all the fucks at home and rock something like Cheval or The Night and it's an absolute delight.

Top 3 would be:

1. Thebes G1
2. Tabac G
3. Cheval

But really, very difficult to narrow it just to 3. Because they are so many and so different. I think that these 3 give me the most satisfaction but it would be unfair to say that they are my favorites.

Interesting. To me, it's more of an oud-rose. Sure, a lot more than that, but to sum it up. I don't get the leather accord in here. To me, EO Sultan Leather Attar is a very good example of a leather accord in Attar-based perfumery.
So here’s what’s funny I don’t think of sultan leather Attar so much as a true leather but rather dark floral oud with heavy emphasis on ambergris. The Oud by default is leathery I’ll give you that but to me Cheval takes that leather and amplifies it towards a “black leather” accord that to my nose actually smells like leather. It’s medicinal black leather. SLA is mainly rose/Oud/ambergris with ambergris and Oud being the majority of the wearing.

Cheval for me is really difficult to pick apart the materials and the blending is so seemless and smooth that it’s just the best example of this kind of scent in Attar making. I think Ensar is a long way off from the skills of SP in terms of blending but Cheval in my opinion is just the GOAT.

For some reason my nose struggles with leather notes. I don’t perceive leather like others do so for Cheval to hit that space in my brain is awesome.

My top 3 are:
Irisoir
Reve Narcotique
Chypre Chrysantheme

I've only sampled 15/30 from my 2020 batch so this could easily change. Cuirlilas, Jardin D' Borneo Grandenia, and Diwaniya are in my queue next :)

Hey guys,

I'm coming to the end of my 3ml of fougere noir. Probably one of my favorite perfumes of all time. I love it's versatility and wearability. While I probably will be making an order for another soon, I am curious if anyone knows of any spray compositions that fill the same niche as FN. Something fresh, vegetal, uplifting, green, natural smelling. I have been looking at the rogue fougeres but have yet to try any. Anyone have any recommendations?

I’ve been wondering if one of sultan’s new spray perfumes will fill the void since I’m almost out of my 3ml of fougere noire.

I've not come across anything yet, that opens up my nasal airways quite like FN...Magical stuff indeed!
