I bought all of SP sample set. Working my way through them. Beautiful. I like the deer musk accord smell but was a bit disappointed to learn it wasn’t actually made with real deer musk :( the other SP samples are all amazing though with Ame Sombre, Tabac Grande amongst my all time favourites. i hope to have full bottles of them all eventually !

Love the Deer Musk Signature. I usually can't stand synthetic musks, but this one is very good. This one, old MKK, Musc Tonkin, and Mriga are the living proof that one doesn't need to use real deer musk after all in order to create a beautiful, close to the real stuff, animalic perfume.

I'm planning to order multiple attars from Sultan soon, and that Deer Musk Accord is definitely among them.

mriga is really good and I agree one doesn't have to use real deer musk to get the desired effect but it takes immense skill to do so as you would agree many fall flat

It’s definitely not going to be the one if you’re looking for a pure deer musk tincture(it’s fairly easy to find deer musk grains in sandalwood—- try ASO or EO or RPP) but I think it’s stunning for what it is. The fact that Sultan can nail such an amazing approximation of the scent using botanicals and other extracts? To me that’s real skill.

Oh I agree that SP is an amazing perfumer, I just assumed he was also using real deer musk in his musk accord since everything else he uses is natural too. Does he not use any animal products at all then in his perfumes? Would this mean his ambergris is also not real ambergris?

He uses real ambergris, castoreum, hyrax and skunk(in only one Attar I believe) for sure. Im pretty sure he only uses real civet. And he definitely uses a deer musk accord rather than real deer musk for ethical reasons.

Violette Noyée is back. 🥰

Hey has anyone tried this one? It sounds like Sultan's homage to Apres L'Ondee, which is what would happen if the Gods said to me: pick your favorite perfume and then your favorite perfumer that you'd like to see remake it. It's not listed among the samples contained in this round of the sample sets, so I think I'm just going to have to go ahead and order if folks have had generally favorable impressions.

He has a new one: https://sultanpashaattars.com/collections/all-attars/products/amber-fuave?variant=41517182124222

@Ashfaque

Could it be, that the new one is the attar I got last year? If not, it seems to be blindbuy worthy. 🤩
Hi David,
According to Sultan, it is a different composition. He renamed Ambre fauve as Entre deux Guerres. The official description defines it as "an neo-classical amber executed in the traditional French style, with chypre like elements."

PS: Since he has not released Shamama yet. my guess is he's still tweaking it.

I know that Al hareem and Thebes grade 1 are back next year but any info on Nankun Kodō?

@Ashfaque

Thank you very much. Your short line to Sultan is really worth its weight in gold. 👍🏻👍🏻

So now I have to scrape together a bit, but I probably won't be able to order until August. I'd like to fill up some of my stock and I don't have that much money lying around.

By the way: In the meantime, the Shamama I already have has become one of my favourite attars. However, I can only wear it when my wife is not at home. 😂

Hello,
Did anyone have the chance of trying Violette Noyee?
I was able to get hold of a smaller decant (about 0.2ml) shortly before the fragrance was reissued. I would say that the old batch belongs to the family of beloved attars like Irisoir, Poudre Noir or even distant Cuirlilas, although with VN the focus is more on the flowers. I haven't had the new batch under my nose yet, but if you like the attars above you should like VN, too.

IIRC, Sultan said (few months ago) that it should be back in 2023. Besides (, just a speculation on my part), he'll probably remain busy with his own spray perfume brand - at least until it's official launch.

You're most welcome, David.

One of the best part of SPA is the absence of FOMO. Besides, I bet you already have a lot of stuffs to enjoy! I should follow my own advice sometimes - grrr! 😂

Re your wife: Wear some skanky Hindi ouds from Ajmal for a few days. Then go back to Shamama. She won't complain then! Repeat this prescription when needed! 😶

I'm trying Violette Noyee courtesy of a sample that was generously provided by Sultan with my last order.

Love this one. I can see the connection to Irisoir, however, they feel quite different. This one is very bright, more floral, with green/fresh facets, airy, and opened up. Lots of floral notes, violets, mimosa, hawthorn. and orris layered on a woody-resinous base. Irisoir is very dense and creamy/buttery, I get loads of orris and sandalwood there, almost has a chalkiness to it, some chocolaty facets, as well as some fruity touches on the top. Violette Noyee reminds me of a perfume that I love, Anatole Lebreton L'Eau de Merzhin. Open fields and florals. That one, unfortunately, although it smells heavenly, doesn't wear that great on me. After an hour or so I can barely detect it. This one seems to fill in that gap.

I’ve gotta grab some of the restocks and new releases. I’ve just been saving for his sprays. After trying Sacred Scarab, I can’t wait to see what he does with his own line, being the boss and using whatever materials he wants.

Yep, added Violette Noyee to my wishlist. I just realized that the artisanal house and perfumer from whom I own the most bottles is Sultan Pasha. I might just go on and say that it might just be my favorite artisanal house. So far I own 15 and it's going to be 16 with Violette. More than any other artisanal house for me. I remember being skeptical going into the house, but his attars are truly unlike any attars that I have smelt. I don't think I'll be diving into his perfumes though. I think he's the God at the attar game, and I want him to remain that way to my nose. I'll probably sample them for fun.
One thing though that I wish I knew before getting into Sultan Pasha, is that if you have a large collection, you should absolutely not buy full 3 gram bottles:)))). His attars are so strong that you only need a tiny bit. I only regret getting 3 gram bottles for my first few because I know that I'll never use the whole amount, and I could have saved lots of money, or get more 1 gram bottles. And just swiping more won't do because I'll just nuke my entire city.
Bless you dear Sultan for your craft. Whenever I think about start blending my own stuff, I think about people like you. A true inspiration.
