Originally the fifth member of the "Trumper Collection" series (others being Astor, Curzon, Marlborough and Wellington). Now discontinued. I'm lucky to have a bottle, housed in the elegant cardboard coffret typical of the series. This box is light grey-green with gold lettering.
Notes (my estimation): lime, spices, wood, vetiver, moss.
This has a delightful crisp opening. Pay attention to the lime which is excellent and very citrus-green! The fragrance settles into peppery spice and woody notes. Then, a very earthy-brown, forest-floor vetiver note appears. With this, Silvester earns its name and is the most foresty of the Trumper line. I wish this phase lasted longer, it is marvellous. Finally a very hay-like, herbal-coumarin note emerges in the dry-down, along with a good dollop of old-school moss. The hay brightens the scent, suggesting mint or a conifer. A very interesting scent, a shame that it is no longer available.

I got all sorts of interesting notes out of Silvestre today. Green lime, peppery spice. A light licorice-like note, possibly from anise or fennel. Some sweeter spices, perhaps cardamom. A hint of smoky tobacco leaf. Certainly grassy vetiver in the dry-down, and a light wood note as well. Lovely.

Old-school and still delightful. Trumper scents, especially the vintage ones, really have a certain charm. The elements are subtle and blended together well. Lime, peppery spice, and a hint of woods and vetiver.

Crisp green lime, woods, and an earthy vetiver. A simple sort of combination, but it works very well. Hint of iodine in the vetiver dry-down.

I made the effort several years ago to get this discontinued Trumper scent, and I'm glad I did. It is a great addition to my cache of Trumper Collection scents. Green herbal notes, salty moss, vetiver with an iodine tang, very dry and peppery.
