it's always a good idea to have at least one unscented soap in your collection, and for me, Denton Majik delivered the goods.. a flawless shave today. it's good to be back on track.

Good morning! Hope you had a pleasant evening..

Wanted a proper "badass" shave this morning. And if that's the kind of shave you're after, you have to use the proper equipment. No other soap would be more apropos IMO than Hendrix Classics' "Badass" shave soap! I mean, just look at that label! And the scent notes? Citrus top over oakmoss and cedar. Even Pai Mei approves!

Next, the brush. No other type brush is more manly that the classic boar bristle so I grabbed the manly 28mm Zenith boar and whipped up an incredible lather for two passes (+ touch-up) with the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6. Now, some out there would feel that for a shave to be truly "badass", a straight razor would be required. However, as I shave in the shower (which is no place for a fully-exposed hunk of literally "razor sharp" metal), using one would shift said shave from "badass" to "totally insane".

For the after shave, I chose one of the most "badass", manly splashes out there, MANDOM! Why? Because Charles Bronson. None more "badass"!

Finally, I finished with a "badass" blast of musky goodness from the Avon "Black Suede".

Fantastic shave today! Back to ETHOS Grooming Essentials "Vanilla Safi" shave soap. I'm so glad I grabbed a tub when it debuted. Great lather as you'd expect from ETHOS, and the vanilla scent is deep, rich and very natural. Two passes (+ touch-up) with the 61 "Fatboy" and I finished with Nivea "Vanilla & Bourbon" after shave and a generous blast of Viktor & Rolf "Spicebomb".

1st time with the Platinum, and although I ended up with a terrific shave, I was a little disappointed in the fact that it didn't come across as smooth as I anticipated.. 1st pass was quite tuggy, but it settled down as I got into the shave.. time will tell with that one.. maybe needs corking before 1st use. We shall see.
The Nod is exemplary in its performance, and the fact that they got the scent spot on is worthy of much applause.
Yeah, a great shave, with only a minor issue...

Great shave today! Haven't used the BDLM 2 soap in some time and had forgotten how nice it is. Great lather and scent. Homage to Tom Ford for Men and it's spot on. The POD is to take care of a few items here around the house, a hair cut later on and meeting up with friends for dinner later this evening.

Absolutely fantastic shave this morning! One of those mornings where the Shaving Gods smile down and everything goes right. Excellent lather from the Saponificio Varesino soap, whipped up with the YAQI "Bali" brush. Two passes (+ touch-up) with the 61 Fatboy and I finished with the matching ASL and a couple of sprays of Czech & Speake "No. 88" EdC.

The wife and I were speaking last night about where we'd love to travel when we retire. One place I've always wanted to visit is Sedona, AZ, among other places out west. So I needed a "desert vibe" this morning and reached for the tub of "Hombres Barber Shop". Rich, fragrant lather whipped by the Zenith boar for two passes with the W. Hohn Custom DE and I finished with the matching splash and a generous spray of Creed "Royal English Leather". Excellent!!

Gonna be close to 80° the next few days so I'm bringing out some of my warmer months scents. Today I went with one of the new ones from ETHOS Grooming Essentials, "Bergamotto". Man, this stuff smells great! Fresh, bright citrus with a hint of a peppery herbalness. Exceptional lather whipped up with the new Zenith Manchurian for two passes (+ touch-up) with the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 and I finished with the matching splash and Pepe Jeans "London Cocktail" EdT.

I made the mistake of looking wrong at my aftershave bottle and….. it dented 😂 they use the cheapest aluminum containers and it dents so easily. Most of mine are dented. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Fantastic shave this morning. Been a while since I last used this soap/splash combo and I had forgotten both what a nice scent and lather it has. The new Semogue SOC Super Badger blew my mind! One of the best brushes I've ever used. The tips were extremely soft right out of the box and no funky scent that I could detect. Two passes (+ touch-up) with the Fatboy and I finished with the matching splash and Creed's "Royal Mayfair". The frag complemented the soap and splash nicely, with an added boozy, spicy, juniper gin note added to the interplay of the woody, citrus, rose notes from the soap & splash.

Great end-of-the-workweek shave today! Temps have moderated and are closer to normal for this time of year so I went with something a little bolder with First Line Shave's "Illustrious Oud". Fantastic soap and scent! Homage to INITIO Perfumes "Oud for Greatness". Haven't tried the frag but the soap/splash/EdP smells wonderful! Excellent lather whipped up with the new Wild West Brushworks "REM Cycle" Sweet Spot badger for two passes (+ touch-up) with the EJ 3ONE6 and I finished wither the matching splash and EdP.

I decided to have my first DE shave in about six months today.
I used a Jagger 87 razor, Gillette 7 O'Clock Blade and Pino Silvestri Shave Master Extra Gentle Shaving Soap.

I haven't been a fan of this shaving soap, as I remember getting more nicks or alum stings using it than with others
Today I used an Omega boar brush with it (I may have used a badger brush with it in the past), and the result was really excellent - very close shave and not a single alum sting.

One or two shaving soaps gave me poor results with a badger brush, but good results with a boar brush - and I can now add the Pino Silvestre one to that small list.

Nice shave tonight…. The Holy Black soap lather was quite nice…. still wish the spice/gunpowder scent was a little stronger. The aftershave came through in the scent dept. Rockwell T2 razor w/feather blade. Simpson Polo 10 - Super Badger.

Finished off with Ambre Sultan.
