Scents from raw materials

The scent from resins that are heated to just below temp at which they ignite is NOT the same as essential oil from same resin. Example: frankincense. The essential oil in a candle, a liquid carrier (@ body temp), stick or dhoop incense or using an essential oil diffuser does NOT produce the same scent as the resin on a metal or stone surface that is hotter (approx 360F) i.e. at the smoking point but not at ignition. Does anyone know how to capture resin scents that are vaporized` between the melting point and when they burst into flames?
.... Cara cara orange peels and frankincense resin on the wood stove was amazing! Essential oils of frankincense + mandarin orange, also on the stove, wasn't even close.
