Scammer in marketplace

There’s a scammer in the marketplace and even though the listings have been reported numerous times and several people have corroborated that it is indeed a scam, the listings are still up. Don’t buy either of these listings of from this user.

Unacceptable that not one of the mods hasn’t dealt with this yet. But they had time enough to message me a month back saying I couldn’t have multiple marketplace threads…..only to have to correct them, because we can.

Certainly seems sketchy for the reasons mentioned so far and worth looking into. Tough to see established members go off the rails but it happens. The marketplace does seem to warrant some additional minding these days.

Since the Xenforo upgrade, I’ve found the tagging feature helpful for drawing attention, e.g. @grant @Kiliwia @foxbins @Bavard @cazaubon @furrypine, @Judith Brockless @CoL etc.

Hi folks, I'm the one who got scammed by her for that AG Bogue, and now I'm filling out the claim on PayPal for help, also took all screenshots of the whole conversation and uploaded them to the PayPal archives. I'm really looking for more help from admins and moderators, but I have reported all threads for sale of her, and there have been no actions for her till now.
I also really appreciate the help of bl00drunzcold. It means a lot at this time.

Until now the complaints have been about unusual pricing, not about transactions not being fulfilled. And members are free to set whatever price for whatever reason, there was no reason to censure the seller. And until yesterday there was no negative feedback on starshipvelcro's account. Their account has been suspended and hopefully, they will contact me and we can sort this out.

Without touching on the other stuff mentioned in this thread, along with a number of new accounts signing up in the last 6 months or so that display a range of similarities, there are also a fair few old (in some cases very old) accounts that have posted for the first time in years, sometimes over a decade, as well.

What are the chances that some older/existing accounts are being hacked and used for nefarious purposes?

I started reporting the listings on Thursday night once I saw Simon’s alert elsewhere. My reports directly called them a scammer, that they were taking money multiple times for the same bottle, and that they were stealing pics from others to use in their scam. I know Simon started to report them as well. @Mak-7 had his money taken and @Proust_Madeleine confirmed those were his Ensar Oud pics on Thursday night. It took you guys until today to freeze the account? Go off topic in the Slumberhouse thread and it gets cleaned up quick, scammer steals pics and rips people off and it goes on for a day and a half after reports, messages, a new thread, and talk in a whole different thread. Kinda ridiculous.

I’m sorry I didn’t reply earlier to your messages about Bogue stuff. But this thread is exactly the reason why. So much fraudulent/scammy type messages around perfume the last few months has made me weary.

So I’m bummed this happened to you. Message me if you want me to send some Bogue samples or something your way, just to give you a little silver lining in this mess.

This is an excellent question. I've been noticing the same thing. Why are there so many older accounts showing up recently that haven't posted in many years and are now all of the sudden back and wanting to participate in the Market Place? It seems suspicious at the very least.

I'm also sorry to hear about simmonharris's experience and hope this gets corrected for him immediately.

Yep. Trolling the victim pretty much confirms it.

If other accounts have been compromised here, I'd recommend changing your passwords, just in case it is systemic, not opportunitic.

I am very sad to read this.

I will say I pretty much agree with La Fleur about the account being hacked. I had some dealings with starshipvelcro about a month ago and the name shown here was not the name of the woman I made a deal with. Our transaction went perfectly and she was pleasant and easy to deal with. I certainly cannot definitively prove she was hacked, but the woman I dealt with did not at all seem the sort to come in here thumbing her nose at simon.
