Sonoma Scent Studiols Rose Volupté for a beautiful ambered spicy rose [which seems to be more to your taste) or their Velvet Rose for more of a rose soliflore.

Lutens’ Sa Majesté La Rose is beautiful, but it doesn’t last very long on me.

And you can’t go wrong with Perfumer’s Workshop’ Tea Rose. A cheap and cheerful rose soliflore. You can add a spray of on top of other scents, if you’re inclined to layer, or you can spray it around the house.

Dusita - Oudh Infini

Portrait of a Lady

Aramis - Calligraphy Rose

I wore it today three times. I'm sick and tired of it.
Even though I love it, I don't want to see it for a few months. :D

Amouage - Lyric Women
I don't like men's version.

And, I hope, AbdesSalaam - Amber Rose, that I'm waiting to arrive.
I'll let you know. 😋

Maybe also Krizia - Teatro alla Scala, but for me the rose here is not the main protagonist.
Love it.

Guerlain Nahema if you can find it.
And I would say a vintage bottle - no later than the 1990’s - to appreciate the deep spiced rose that Nahema was. The modern version is a green-leaning rose that is certainly not to be despised but it is a very different scent.

There are so many great vintage roses but the OP asked for recs that were currently sold so I held back, exhibiting remarkable restraint, I would add...;) Then again, the OP hasn’t rejoined the chat so perhaps we are just taking amongst ourselves?

Modern “rose” perfumes can be quite dispiriting, the recent spate of a washed out, watery pink watercolor feminine roses notwithstanding.

I have the vintage PDT Nahema, and it is a masterpiece.

Portrait of a Lady

I like these both, but I wouldn’t consider either for rose purists (esp. not the Dusita).

And, I hope, AbdesSalaam - Amber Rose, that I'm waiting to arrive.

An excellent rose, as well as an excellent amber. I’d be shocked if you were disappointed.

TRNP also has some beautiful roses: Taif Rose and Rose Potion come to mind, and especially the gorgeous Tantra.

I haven't sampled quite the range of many of the rose experts in this thread, but one I really enjoy (as a fellow middle-aged man) and haven't seen mentioned is Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin. Blood red rose, geranium, palmarosa, and a light dose of patchouli, but this is very much focused on the rose. Very unisex, and some might find this feminine-leaning, but a lot of guys on here own and love this one. I wore it today in fact. Excellent performance on my skin and it's recently been available cheaply from discounters.

Another good one in the niche realm is Tauer's Phi - Une Rose de Kandahar. It's a beautifully spiced rose, very warm and comforting, slightly gourmand, with some apricot and cinnamon in the opening and a warm vanilla base. Fully unisex.

Finally, I'll second the suggestions for Egoiste (more of a spiced woods scent, but there's a gentle rose note in the heart) and Declaration d'un Soir (just a stunning modern masculine rose, with the sharp spices of Declaration dialed back but used to support the core rose accord). I'll also break the rules and recommend one discontinued scent, only because it's still readily available at reasonable prices on ebay and it's better than everything else I've mentioned: Azzaro Acteur. Truly a gorgeous rose/carnation/leather chypre concoction, and I suspect this would work perfectly if you can get ahold of a bottle. I was able to pick up a vintage mini for about $12 earlier this year; wore it last week and it's as good as ever.

I'm a little obsessed with just about every rose Jean-Claude Ellena has created: Rose et Cuir, Rose Ikebana, Rose Amazone, Rose de Mai. Wanted to add Galop but that is Nagel, but let's say it is JCE adjacent.

Lately been revisiting Malle's Une Rose/Rose Tonnere and quite enjoying it!

Also, it is expensive but can be had at discounters: Gucci's A Song for the Rose is really good.

I like Hermes Pamplemousse rose. It smells exactly like an old fashioned rose, Minette, that came from my Grandma's house. It's a spicy rose scent, not sweet

Paul Smith Rose
Le Labo Rose 31
Zara Tubereuse Noir

You could try any or all of these three. The Paul Smith is the most straightforward rose fragrance, but lacks “difference”. Rose 31 has loads of difference, but is almost too much of a statement. Jo Malone’s Tubereuse Noir, which she made for Zara, is subtle, satisfying, eminently wearable, and (on me) lasting. Oh, and it won’t bankrupt you either.

Myrrhe Eglantine by Hermes is a really good unsweetened oritental rose and myrrh combination. I haven't come across anything similar. Another that I would recommend is Fenicia by the Merchant of Venice, fresh rose petals in a swirls of sweet myrrhe some citrus notes, vanilla and spices.

Those would be my picks that haven't already been mentioned.

Rosae Mundi by Profumum - very complex and well rounded.
Lyric Man by Amouage - interesting, powerful and a bit different, one of the first rose fragrances for the male market, a good translation of the Middle Eastern floral for Western tastes.

my sole—or "soul"—Nahema experience comes from the micro mini bottles of the parfum, which are vintage late 70s/early 80s. I do appreciate your close reading re: Currently sold. I am slapdash in that respect!

I bet these are very good! My vintage Nahema PDT (from 1980) is one of the very few bottles that I have that makes me think, “Damn, I’ll never find more of this.” But I wear it anyway. In truth, there is always more...even if at crazy prices.
