In the last 24 hours I've been frequently (5 times now) asking me to reconfirm my email.

What is going on here? I have to get basenotes send me a confirmation email and then reconfirm my confirm my email. Unless I do this I'm not able to respond to messages or make posts.

Really annoying. Need help from the Mods on what to do about this.

On a side note, any basenotes notifications that I get, automatically gets thrown into my junk/spam folder. I don't know why it's doing this. I've looked at my settings on my email and I've not put a filter to mark it as spam. I have to mark it as not spam but for some reason new notifications get put in the junk/spam folder.

I don't know what's going on here.

The last time I reconfirmed my email, in a short time approximately 30 minutes, it asked me to reconfirm my email again!

I switched out the emails. Problem solved.

Can you confirm that?
I've had zero notices that I had to reconfirm my email by Basenotes after entering in a new email (gmail). I previously used Yahoo which recently started to give me problems. Apparently there were a lot complaints by other yahoo email users recently of their email being problematic.
I was being a wise-guy... I should've added an appropriate smiley to that post. Apologies. 😥

FWIW, AT&T used Yahoo mail for its (AT&T's) customer-account email... there were always "issues". AT&T finally set-up its own server for that purpose.

This is exactly what's been happening to me. Almost gave up and permanently deleted my account. Hopefully changing to and linking a gmail address will solve this .

I've had my email account for nearly 20 years. It was only within the last few years that problems started to escalate. Yahoo mails has gone down in performance. It's unable to monitor or filter out emails properly. Emails that aren't spam are marked as spam and vice versa. Lots of complaints by users of how corrupt and poorly maintained their services are.

Initially thought Basenotes was the problem but very few have had issues which made me rethink it was Yahoo. All evidence leads to that conclusion.

l've just experienced the same problem, being unable to post here since the night before last until this morning. l emailed Grant about it, & it seems Yahoo was blocking my notifications for no apparent reason. And reconfirming my email didn't work until just now. There didn't seem to be any way to get Yahoo to unblock notifications, & l had no wish to get a new email address just for this. lncredibly frustrating, & l hope it won't happen again! ls there any way to prevent this?

I’ve had to reconfirm my email 5 times in the past month, and lose my privileges to do almost anything until I reconfirm each time. I haven’t changed my email since I’ve had my account - anyone else getting this problem?

I have merged all the related threads together.

Here's the issues.

When this software detects that an email isn't getting through to someone, it stops emailing you, and limits access until you enter a working email address.

Some email providers bounce back the email to us, so that BN thinks the email is not getting through. They bounce it back, as they think it is spam - and it doesn't even reach your inbox or spam folder.

I have asked our email provider to look into the Yahoo ones. Yahoo say that the messages are temporarily deferred due to unexpected volume or user complaints

In the meantime, your best option is to sign up to a free email account that's not Yahoo, and enter that as your email address. You can then get the new email account to automatically forward the emails to your Yahoo account.

I'm also looking into a different email provider, but that's a long job

So l went to "Preferences" & unticked email notifications for "content you create" & "content you interact with". But l'm still getting email notifications. Further down there's a whole list of items for which you can receive "alerts", but l thought that just referred to the Alerts that appear when you click on the little bell, in the top right corner of the basenotes page when you're logged in? Sorry if l'm being dim, but how do l turn off email notifications for posts in threads??

I found success by switching over to a gmail account, I have not had an issue since.
