realistic smokey cigarette tobacco fragrances

Aug 26, 2021
What would be these? I'm not talking about the syrupy,sweet-gourmand fragrances with lots of honey-vanilla-fruits-tonka and other sweet stuff.

I'm talking about that type of cozy-relaxing-well blended/done smokey cigarette tobacco accords. Is there a such thing on the market?

Aramis Tobacco Reserve isn't smokey either, but reminds me of a fresh pack of cigarettes.
I also get a cigarette note from Atelier Cologne Cafe Tuberosa, even though tobacco is not listed, but Cafe Tuberosa is more in the sweet gourmand floral territory (it is not in the tobacco-vanilla-honey-tonka category though).

Hilde Soliani Bell'Antonio is a gorgeous, smoky cigarettes-and-coffee scent that might give you what you're looking for. It's quite dry.

A more affordable "cigarette" tobacco is Lalique Hommage a L'Homme, but it isn't smoky. It smells more like unsmoked cigarettes.
The Hommage a L’Homme recommendation is interesting because I never would have guessed this had a cigarette tobacco vibe from reading the reviews. I’ll have to sample this then because I’m always trying to find new tobacco accords. Thanks!

To the original poster: Be careful because the scent could have a realistic smell of cigarettes but the rest of the fragrance is dreadful. Sample, sample, sample.

I love the cigarette accord in Jasmin et Cigarette by Etat Libre d'Orange. You just have to like jasmine. But it really captures that smoke-on-fabric smell that smokers have (which some find oddly comforting)

You also should try Cigar by Remy Latour. I was gifted a bottle and re-gifted it to my partner because he likes it. But it's not for me - and yeah it does smell like burning tobacco. Plus there are like 6 flankers of it by the makers.

I find that one primarily about nutmeg+tonka, but in the opening a nice blonde cigar wrapper accord emerges.
I read about this that it smells like campfire/bbq smoke and cigarette tobacco plus some sweet notes.
Yeah, that's what I got from Akro Smoke. I didn't care for it.

Hmm,

Maison Margiella - Jazz Club has a nice cigarette smoke effect, like you're smelling it "in the air" and a boozy bourbon basenote tone along with a light woody note and a faint leather. I really like this atmospheric "take you there" artistic scent. I think the perfumer Alienor Massenet knocked it out of the park with her work on this fragrance. When I'm in the mood, this fragrance is highly enjoyable.

i guess it’s a “ymmv” kind of situation. I know people that think Royal Oud smells ashy and has a cigarette smoke vibe and I’ve never picked up on that.

Akro Smoke to my nose smells about as realistic as it gets. Others have commented on it as well and tbh it’s a really nice easy going tobacco scent through and through.

I don’t get any cigarette vibes from that in any capacity neither smoke nor leaf. It’s a great fragrance though although in my opinion Ummagumma does a similar thing but better. I’m actually wearing Tobacco Oud today as well.

Well, it is reviewed as a strong tobacco scent. How it really smells ?

So many people say Akro Smoke nails the scent of cigarette smoke, but I've never really thought so, and I even own it and am a smoker.

I think Celine Nightclubbing has an accord that is much more similar to cigarette smoke.
ok, so how Smoke by Akro really smells?

I read about nightclubbing that it smells like Dior Homme lipstick-vanilla combined with some cigarette smoke and its weak after the top notes goes away and also that it's a very expensive fragrance. Is this similar to Jazz by M.M?

Smoke by Akro
Jasmine et cigarette
Nightclubbing by Celine

Jazz Club by MM
Jeke by Slumberhouse
Zara the perfect smoking

I'd try to sample them and see if they have that cigarette smoke vibe, how they last and how good they project.

To my nose, Smoke is much sweeter than actual cigarette smoke.

Nightclubbing is not similar to Jazz Club, and it's way better. If you want a LOUD fragrance, though, I don't think any of the Celines will be for you.

For me it’s a incensy labdanum forward scent with a nice musky drydown. It never really hits the tobacco space that I look for but there is an overall feel of “tobacco”. It’s a little boozy at first in a sour/whiskey sort of way.

Is Jeke by Slumberhouse fit in this category?

Also I read that Zara had one named "perfect smoking" that smelled like cigarette ?
Jeke is a warm, spicy amber scent. The newest Jeke which is the most readily available is essentially curried pancake syrup. All versions of Jeke are Smokey for a bit but it’s the bbq style smoke I guess. It never smells that way to me but like you said people think Akro Smoke smells like bbq and Jeke definitely has a similar smokiness/charred aspect to it.

The newest Jeke 22’ is basically all maple syrup unfortunately. It smells nice up close on skin but it’s so ridiculously nuclear that any room you go in will have people wondering where’s the pancakes at.

Thaank you very much for your accurate description of these scents.

Thanks!

So Smoke is basically a sweet-smokey-woody-bbq fire type of scent ?

Btw, is it true that Nightclubbing has a vibe of Dior Homme/ vanilla/iris note in the dry down?

I have Zara's "Perfect Smoking" and there's zero smoke or cigarette or tobacco in it. There's some black pepper and incense that, I imagine, might give someone that impression, but realistic it is not.

Ok thanks! It seems that so many fragrances are reviewed/marketed as a tobacco/cigarette smoke type of scents but in reality they are some sweet-spicy-woody-smokey fragrances that could give you that impression.

You said "smokey" so this may not fit the request.
Versace The Dreamer was often said to smell like a freshly opened pack of cigarettes. Not the cigarette smoke- just the scent of a newly opened pack.

Not even sure The Dreamer is even available anymore. It used to get a fair amount of discussion here, but it's been off the radar for a few years.
