Hi all,

Long time BN'er know of my love of "Funky" Fragrances. My question, is "Juste Filthy Noir Homme" considered a QUALITY Fragrance ? The price seem very reasonable (especially for a new/newer) release. I have many (unique) Fragrances that I love that do NOT cost an Arm and a Leg such as: Lalique Encre Noire (and flankers) Dali,
Bogart Furyo, Zoologist (original) BAT, Caron L'Anarchiste (or Yatagan), Lush Breath of God, Imaginary Authors Bull's L'Occitane Eau des Baux, etc. In other words, is "JFNH" more than just a "FUNKY" Fragrance ? Might it be complex/have layers ? Might "JFNH" have same level of overall QUALITY as the above listed Colognes ? Thanks for any insight on this Fragrance.

Regards,
SixCats!

I wore Juste Filthy Noir Homme yesterday morning; and, in the evening, I layered it on top of it's sibling, Scatamalis. In neither instance did I find, or expect, "complexity". However, given the not-undeserved reputation of skatole, in both fragrances it presents as "soft", rather than "inyoface"; it's well-mediated by the other constituents and the quality of composition. Pleasant experiences. What did surprise me was the longevity -- a solid 8-hours between the morning and evening application (which was discernible, even the next morning). I think a "fan of funky fragrances" could safely buy it.

Thank you both for your responses to my questions. I'm sort of on the fence with this one.

Funny, I was just looking at these perfumes for the first time today. JB, what do you think of the fecal aspect in scatamalis?
As with JFNH, it's there, but subdued. I was stationed just outside of Mannheim, West Germany, in '75/'76, and my wife and I lived a good ways off-base, in the small town of Sülzbach. The non-highway route took us through miles of plowed fields, and I remember their pleasant smell after the manure had been worked-into the soil and a week had passed. Scatamalis smells similar to, or even less fecal than that; it's there, but subdued.

If you're interested, JD Perfumes sells 2.7ml spray-samples of both for $12.50 each.

I did see that JD Perfumes has quite reasonable prices on all their fragrances -- something I appreciate. I love the smells of the country that you describe, we have them in Texas as well.
