A very fine bit of sniffing going on here... this is the perfect way to approach these boxes, using your nose first and your mind second.

Mumsy, it was very revealing for me! Altough it was a quick sniff i could see some interesting links that i would never see if i knew what to check. Like the bitter chocolate nuance in methyl eugenol for instance. I checked on the the good scents company that methyl eugenol has this description gave by some of the suppliers. So i'm not getting crazy lol

I was just surprised that at 20% it doesn't seem so strong. I always imagine that eugenol and its derivatives would be very intense even diluted. But this one is so soft to my nose. A very fine aroma. Too bad it's so restricted!

If people want more of that particular one, I had to buy quite a big amount of that to get it. I am currently preparing a section on the site so members can order any excess materials (when they happen) if they would like them. This is a share buy club and materials belong to all of us. I'm not planning on keeping stocks out of this game.

I smelled a lot of different things this saturday on the perfumery course i'm participating and i'm sure that the material number 1 appeared in one of the muguet bases they showed. I'm puzzled because it smelled faintly of sandalwood just like this material has. I hope we know soon the names of each material, i do need to purchase that one, it seems very versatile to use as a bridge between flowers and woods, specially if you want a more soft and silk and abstract floral impression.

Hello to All,

Just wanted to say that while I'm a bit quiet on here, I am following along. I do believe that in group projects.....that group participation is very important, and I apologize in advance, but wow.....I learned straight out of the gate that I'm a definite "newbie" at this. I suppose that I'm more familiar with "accords" than with singular scents......and it feels a bit like trying to feel for the light switch in a room that is pitch black. However, by following along and reading other notes it is beginning to help me to at least understand the "process" a bit more.

Annnnd......I received my second box :vrolijk_26: So excited ! Mumsy thanks a bushel

Wonderful. Glad every time one gets there safely.

The important thing is to really enjoy what you are smelling and see what your nose finds. Imagine you are in a field lying on the grass as a child. You would pick the flower and smell it in an exploratory way to see what your nose found. There would be no pressure to know anything, just a curiosity to feel it.

When you read what someone is smelling, then have your vial or strip there too and follow their smelled notes with your nose. See what yours finds. You may disagree.

Hi Mumsy, I received my 2nd box yesterday (22 March). It took extra time to reach me, because it was stopped by Australian Border Control for inspection. Good news, Border Control added a notice in my box to inform me the contents contained nothing of concern and nothing was removed. Sorry to to all the other PONKers for my absence during box 1 discussions. I am present and able to participate with box 2 and am looking forward to it.
