What does this smell like? I've been on the lookout for a nice vanilla scent for the fall/winter. Something I could wear with a suit. Could this possibly be it?

Yes, IMO you could. It smells like a more "butch" version of 24 Gold...instead of the berry pastery/white chocolate and overly sweet smell in the Scentstory creation, the PE scent is less sweet with a added lovely boozy note to the oud/vanilla combo. Terrific smelling and quality frag for price....tough to beat.

Thank you for the reply/ So seen as I have no chance of sampling this soon, is it worth a blind buy? And also, how does it compare to Dior Homme Intense? Are they different enough to own both?

Gross. Pass.

I'll never understand why men wear this stuff and think its chic.
I was near someone wearing a fragrance that was an overload of tonka beans and vanilla. I couldnt tell if it was a man or a woman wearing it.
Not a gourmand fan, and it shows.

If you think a sweet, boozy vanilla/oud gourmand sounds good to you...then yes. Nothing like DHI...DHI to my nose was just a airy, powdery transparent vanilla/cocoa musk scent. Nice enough, but wasn't complex and kind of dull to me. BVA is a bit darker and heavier with more going on IMO. It gets compared to Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille, but I've never tried that frag so can't comment on that.

LOL! 24 Gold is a great frag, but was too much for me.(and I'm a HUGE gourmand fan) But it was way too sweet and sickly cloying and definitely leaned more on the feminine side. BVA is definitely more balanced in all aspects. But yeah, if your not a gourmand fan...probably best to stay away from this one.(or at least sample first:wink: )

Disclaimer-I normally HATE oud, but in this composition it's blended in very nice and not overpowering at all.

Nice.

I gave my bottle away but I'm glad to see it's back in stock. Hopefully it's still available.

Bro this scent is SICK. So much better than 24
gold. Classy and sexy and sweet. Can't comment on longevity though just tested on paper.

I got mine from fragex last week when they had, like, 8 bottles in stock: gone immediately. Just checked the beautyspin site, where it was in stock for the whole day. Today? Gone. It's limited distribution will keep the hype going, and the fraganistas pining. Sweetstench408, I laughed...hold onto that vintage bottle! I haven't even opened my new box, as I'm just past the halfway on a 10ml decant from Ebay. It's a worthy scent: one worth owning if you like vanilla and the just-shy-of-actually-being-gourmand thing. I never get compliments on my frags. This one has gotten me a couple unsolicited ones, already, so it's a crowd-pleaser. My mom likes it, but it was on the dog, and he usually smells bad, so anything's an improvement! She thought it smelled like baking in the kitchen. The vanilla was strong to her, and delicious (and it is)...I said it has oud as a note, but I don't get it. She said, "Oh! I DO! It's amazing! Too bad the resellers are hogging the bottles, but less of a scent out there makes it more unique to wear. A stone-cold bargain at 50 bucks (IMO). The hype maybe guarantees it a little place in anyone's collection, but only time will tell: it is a Perry Ellis, after all. But pedestrian greatness is a good thing as far as I'm concerned! Now, I want to try the other two. Anyone try the saffron rose one?

And I have never understood guys who call things "chic". Regardless, if you haven't smelled it how can you really say one way or another?

Its funny you mention that. I was actually sitting here the other day pondering why it has taken perry ellis so long to get more of this stuff out there and I thought the exact same thing. I was taking mental bets in my own head on who the first person was going to be to claim its nothing like it used to be and who would coin "vintage BVA" first. Its only a matter of time.

I know how hype works.
Its exactly how it sounds, 98% volume, 2% substance.

Ordered mine on 5/21, still no shipping notification.

Same here, so I emailed them last night...it did indeed ship, and they gave me a UPS tracking number. Would have been nice to get a e-mail letting me know it had been mailed off though.

So much for some new administrative improvements...apparently the stoned cousin was working this weekend! LOL! As long as you guys get the right stuff!

I received my BVA and it's actually very nice. I've only smelled it on paper, but I did the comparison test with SDV with my wife and she said they smelled very similar. I agree. SDV does smell higher quality, but 24 hours after spraying them, it's very hard to tell them apart. I'm not saying that this Perry Ellis is just as good as SDV or 100% the same, but if I just smelled BVA, I'd probably think it was SDV. Can't comment on performance as I've not worn it, but on paper, it's excellent and even quite a bit stronger than the Guerlain.
