Hey Perfume Junkies. Which Fragrances do you have backup bottles of? Exactly how many backup bottles?


Let me start. I have 4 backups of Encens Mythique. I also have more backups of Dior Homme Parfum than makes sense. 3 Chanel n°18 6.8oz.

I have 2 100 ml back up bottles Safran Troublant. In my defence, they were cheap and I like to spray liberally with this one. I also have 1 200 ml bottle of 31 Rue Cambon EdT, but that one I'm going to have to use soon. Having to break open this back up bottle gives me anxiety, even though it's unlikely I'll finish it in the next 10 years. I'll probably still hunt down another back up bottle.

Antaeus - five backups.

Original bottle is a made-in-France 100-ml splash with about 40 ml left.

1. Backup made-in-USA 100-ml splash with about 50 ml.

2. Backup made-in-France, sticker-label 100-ml spray with about 98 ml.

3. Backup made-in-France 100-ml spray with about 90 ml.

4. Backup made-in-USA 50-ml splash with about 45 ml.

5. Backup made-in-USA 50-ml splash with about 45 ml.

I did a pass of samples from the first two bottles (original and backup #1), and people loved the made-in-USA version. I added the last two backups to stock up on that version. They're not quite the same as backup #1, but I like them just as much. I like all the bottles about equally. I can tell differences, sometimes, but they're too similar for me to have any significant preference. The bottles are thought to be from the 1980s and 90s. Antaeus was released in 1981.

Aramis Havana is the only fragrance I have more than one backup bottle of. The two backups (like all my other backups) are securely wrapped in aluminum foil tape to prevent gas exchange.

Although, truth be told, I kind of regret buying backups of anything. I don't have a signature scent and like to rotate quite randomly, so I doubt I'll ever actually get to use the backups.

I have backups of Slumberhouse, Andy Tauer PHI(which probably was a mistake so I might be partying with it in the near future), a few vintage Shalimars and Chanels.

So far, the highest amount of vintage backups (and incidentally also of backups in general, irrespective if the fragrances are vintage or current formulations) is of Guerlain Heritage EDT in at least 5-6 100 ml plus bottles.
It was however not so much a deliberate gesture although liking this particular scent quite substantially, as much as the dumb luck 5-6 or more bottles very inexpensively on sale at a local store.

That's why I don't bother. Who am I kidding? I already have enough perfume to last me until after I die, and there are plenty of other perfumes I don't already have that I'd like to have, so if I buy something, it'll more than likely be something new to my collection.

Ummmm, back up bottles eh ? I've a few. My NUMERO UNO is backed up with two (or three ?) bottles, that being: L'Artisan DZING! (original label Circus Girl riding Tiger). I also have Guerlain "Mitsouko", Boucheron, Eau Sauvage Parfum (2012 & now 2017). Oh, two bottles of Caron Yatagan and several bottles of Lalique Encre Noire (and Flankers). Also, Bogart Furyo, Gray Flannel, Marlou (original) 50ml d'ambiguite. Uggh, I really should (before buying anything else) back up my bottle of SMN "Acqua di Cuba" (just in case). I blew it not backing up (now discontinued) SMN "Nostalgia", ugggh.
