OK......I tasted one absotively posilutely sexy as all get out scent. This screams power and oozes sensuality all at the same time.

Its Bois D'Iris by the different company and OH MY I am one good smellin woman if i do say so myself.

Iris is one of my favorite florals even though its really the root that the scent is made from and apparently the different company uses the best, most potenet type of iris there is......Iris Pallida Bois d'Iris

Many have attempted to duplicate the note of iris, but never before has this root received such a distinctive processing as that of Bois d'Iris. It takes 8 years from planting to produce its essence. 200kg of Bois D'Iris is used to produce a single 250ml bottle of perfume.

other notes are vetiver, bergamot, cedar wood, narcissus, geranium, musk

Ok....I know this is a woman's scent....and I'm not even sure if a man can pull this off......but I had to comment on it. Other than Victoire Gobin-Daude's scents i haven't come across anything new that has really excited me....this one does.......I can't wait to smell their osmanthus and rose poivre (rose and pepper)

I'm on cloud 9

Has anyone else tried this?? smelled it on their girlfriend, wife, mother, sister, niece, cousin, coworker???????????

YAHOOOOOO Damn I smell good LOL

P.S. found some more info on the different company

The Nose: Jean Claude Ellena - who has also created perfume for: Cartier - Bulgari - Van Cleff-Arpel and Frederic Malle.

The Packaging: Thierry De Bashmakoff - who also designs fashion accessoires and packaging for: Celine, Bulgari, Cartier.

The Brief: To create the perfume of your dreams, with no commercial restrictions!

The Ingredients: 95% of the ingredients are natural. Only 5% are synthetic. In today's world of perfumery you can expect the opposite.

Yes I tried the whole Different Line some time ago. They are excellently made though I didnt care for them much (I dont like flowers). The containers they come in are extraordinary and well how should I say, "different." Warm rich smells with multiple facets of fine quality if only I didnt hate the scent of flowers on me or others so much LoL.

AL

Yes I liked Bois d'Iris as well, definitely my favourite in that line. Loved the bottles. I'm a fan of iris - especially on women and you're right this would make a very sexy scent for the woman in your life...

That said I did see the Different Co. range for sale in a couple of men's fashion shops last year so perhaps they are aimed at guys too. I can't imagine how that would work.

I agree. Let's fence this one off for the ladies.

I'm quite old fashioned I think. I like women to wear scents men wouldn't wear - women should keep some mystery.

For example, imagine this passion killing scene:

(Candlelight dinner; couple gazing into one another's eyes)

Him: Darling, what is that scent you're wearing?
Her: Oh, this little thing? It's Fracas.
Him: Oh yes, I have a bottle of that. That reminds me, I must wear it tomorrow!

;)

I know I'm probably one of the only guys on Basenotes to feel this way but we are a broad church - people who soak in scent vs people who dab on just a touch; People who like artisanal scents vs people who like designer-licensed scents; People who like Angel Men and people who don't. It's just my take!

Yeh my father is like that "A man should smell like a man and a woman should smell like a woman!!!" Personally I find it hot when a girl wears men's scents. I like woman who have masculine traits generally. The hottest thing for me is a drop dead gorgeous female who loves to work on cars and get grimy and oily working exhaust pipes. I dated a model once who was like that, she redfined Tom Boy. She also took all my scents :^(.

Buffalo Gal and Mike C--great post! Mike, I believe in "separation of the scents" as well, and I have a question for each of you: What do you consider the sexiest mens fragrance out there?
Thanks.
JohnGA

P.S. Buffalo Gal, I live just north of Alpharetta in the mountains of NGA. Hope to run into you at Luscious Cargo sometime.

heck.......come in on a Saturday...Marcy usually has wine or champagne handy and we hang out and get high on perfume fumes...LOL....

As for the sexietst men's cologne...I'm going to have to give that alot of consideration...its so hard to narrow it down to one......and very honestly i am not up on any designer scents......i really stick to niche fragrnaces.....but i will think on this and get back to you

P.S Ali.....I love what you said.....strangely enough i tend toward the more masculine side of women's scents and love some men's as well........I am just learning to appreciate florals now....i am an ex athlete.......and have always been a tom boy........I was actualy going to compete in body building competition but tore ligaments in my arm before the competition. I actuall had 16 inch arms at one point in my life...natural no juice!! Now.....20 years later......I'm just a late in life mom...out of shape and tired...LOL Anyway........I just found it interesting as we seem to have such opposite tastes in things and have butted heads here and there........

I think its interesting as to what makes some men like mens scents on women and others really like to smell the ultra femme fragrances on women..........I actually think i veer toward enjoying sweet and spicy scents on men...which is what i like on myself too. But i love that i'm stretching a bit and incorporating more facets into what i like fagrance wise....florals are coming into my wardrobe

Underneath my chaivanistic scales I am a huge feminist at heart. ÊI love strong aggressive women who dont back down from anything. ÊI'm a huge Virginia Woolf fan as well as a Herrera fan. ÊI also love female rockers like Joan Jett and Benatar my favorite being Chriissie Hynde. ÊI like Crow a lot too. ÊOne of my favorite directors is Jane Campion who I had the pleasure of meeting at a party. ÊShe walks and looks like a man but is so attractive in her brilliance as a filmmaker. ÊI've never been a supporter of women's rights I am a supporter of HUMAN rights regardless of how one pees (sitting or standing). I also used to bodybuild and stil ldo but on a lesser level. thats impressive you have some killer arms. My dream girl is the kind that pumps iron as oppossed to socialising for 2 hours while sitting on the Smith machine with a 5 lb weight she presses 100 times.

Sexy scents for men... hmmm. You would probably have to ask the girls that one. My wife likes me in not-so-strong, dry colognes like Eau Sauvage and Vetiver Extraordinaire.

She also likes lavender smells and thinks a tiny touch of vanilla or musk doesn't do any harm either (I've just asked her).

She hates anything too sweet or gourmand and she doesn't like powerful fragrances either. Quote: "You should still be able to smell the man underneath the perfume."

I would have thought Cuiron or the new Gucci are quite sexy too.

Dragging the conversation round to the Different Company again:

It is the bottles (leather-covered steel) rather than the juice itself which cost the big money. You can buy a set of 3 x 10ml refills for £35, which is about $55. The refills look a bit like the FrŽderic Malle ones. You can have either all the same, or - get this - 3 different ones, so it's a very reasonably priced way to try out the range. You can buy online at Browns:

http://www.brownsfashion.com/dcrange.html

they are a very reputable company with a famous store in London, and ship to the US. You even get the VAT deducted if you're in the US, which may cover the shipping costs.
