I came upon a brand that I think you guys will like:

I'm pretty interested in Yloud-Yloud and Angeliki:

Yloud-Yloud: Based on two magnificent Agarwood Oils, from Malaysia with more leathery and from Cambodia with more "funky" facets, Civet and a fantastic Ylang Ylang Absolute that came into my possession.
You can find here an equivalent to Grâce D' Orient vintage technique and structure with lots of absolutes like Osmanthus, Vanilla, Jasmine (Grandiflorum), and Rose (Damascena) plus the most divine natural fixative which is none other than Orris Butter (with high irones).

Plan to sample this house down the line

I received my Mallo samples. Ordered the 20th, arrived yesterday.
Sent by DHL so I understand why the price for postage was 18€.
Unfortunately I doused myself with Homeros before seeing the package so my nose is not virgin for this test.

First impressions, 10 minutes in:

Cuba Libre: very interesting. no rum/cola/lime accord to my nose, more of a "medicinal" ambergris, with a fresh twist, almost foresty. I want to say a soft eucalyptus feel but take that with a pinch of (marine) salt :) I really like this, its intriguing and makes me go back to my hand all the time.
Edit: ok, I kind of get the rum-cola feel, it appears 30-40 minutes in, a bit sweet, more "flat" than "sparkling", or just more rum than cola.

Jiz: a soft oud and a fresh realistic orange, I can smell the galbanum if I concentrate enough, hopefully it will be more present in the drydown. Its nice but nothing extraordinary at this moment. Its fresh, delicate and quite classy, nothing loud or "look at me-esque".

If I had to chose one at this point it would be Cuba Libre, its more interesting and unique than Jiz.

Thank you for your impressions 🙌🏽
Is Cuba Libre anything unique and never done before, or does it have resemblance to anything in the market that you tried?

I would say its very special, but not unique, because it reminds me of other fragrances. Maybe unique in the combination of notes (ambergris/patchouli?)

In the opening I would have described it as JF Schwarzlose Berlin's "Zeitgeist" meets something from DS Durga. Buts its not quite that. Visually Its a dark blue-green forest submerged by deep waters.

In the drydown it becomes warmer, I suspect there is some amber and even a hint of vanilla. Or cinnamon? Maybe this what makes the overdosed rum-stale coke accord? But then it struck me, the feeling is quite similar to Monsieur from EDP Frederic Malle. That herbal/medicinal patchouli, a bit boozy, very dense and deep. And it might be the patchouli that gives me this dark and cold effect in the opening, almost menthol/eucalyptus like.

The longevity and projection are very good, its quite strong!
Im very tempted to get a bottle.

Testing Jiz for the third day in a row. Unfortunately I dont have much left out of my 2ml sample so its the last time.

Distinct orange and a very nice galbanum in the opening that creates a very realistic "zesty" "just peeled" feeling.
The oud is clean and has a smokey facet that I didnt detect the first time because I sprayed myself with Homeros just before.
Its classy, well balanced and quite uplifting!
Unfortunately I find it is becoming a skin scent quite fast and I had difficulties detecting waffs of it starting from the 3rd hour, it doesnt seem to project much. It is still present as a skin scent but you have to smell the location where you have sprayed. Jiz apparently has 38% concentration but seem to perform worse than Cuba Libre wich is 28%.

Final thoughts: I love both.

Cuba Libre is strange and definitely not a crowd pleaser. But its quite unique and performs very well. I'll use it for special occasions only, its not an everyday perfume. And its more on the dark side.

Jiz is an uplifting versatile scent. its pleasant, could be worn in many different settings and is on the classy side. The only negative point is that it seems to perform poorly. Unfortunately at that price it is kind of a deal breaker.

saw this brand on insta seems there bout to start up only found out its by our resident @JonoBorneo
Good stuff @JonoBorneo - very cool to see!

Do you have any plans to release smaller bottles too? I hate decants since they lack nice packaging and pretty bottles. Maybe introducing 15ML bottles would be a good idea for the people who already have way too many bottles?

Thanks for the shoutout everyone!

Launching on Halloween, but in the meantime, check out my website for scent descriptions, and my instagram for some visuals on the presentation.

Each bottle costs $335/50ml, which I know is a steep asking price, but please also look at it as purchasing American made artwork. I use hand-printed bandanas, designed by an American artist, as well as American woven patches, and finally CNC’d stainless steel caps. Each bottle’s components are designed to outlive the perfumes inside.

I haven’t yet nailed down details with Lee @Fragnanimous about samples/decants, but would LOVE to make that happen, so let’s get it done, Lee!

Thank you :)
With big players releasing some interesting perfumes it takes away from smaller brands unfortunately.
Hope their 3rd release will be a banger !

but jokes aside i have a review on frag Antica for cubalibre which i will copy and paste here @DearMusk

Opens with salt laced lime like when one takes a shot of tequila, ambergris serves more as a textural element kind of like casting a hue over the composition the cola isn't the diabetic stuff you get in a can but more so the craft stuff hand made with herbs and spices anise sticks out most verging on on liquorice territory.

Its ok didn't wow me

I love a good cola accord but I haven't been wowed by one in the artisanal section yet either..
Thanks for the heads up, don't feel I need to sample Cubalibre now!

Is Jiz any good? Or was that your least fav?
It's my least favorite, but is still quite good. Says more about how much I like the others.

I am wondering if I've got a bit of covid nose going on; to me, Cuba Libre smells very much like wet leaves, a walk on a soggy fall day. I really love it, but that seems pretty far off what others are experiencing 🤷‍♂️

I know it was mentioned last page, but anyone else here tried anything from Jinx Smells? Was curious and bought a bottle of Jasmynal, I'll definitely give a brief review once I receive it. What others from this house are worth trying?

Curious, but they are really expensive, and samples are very expensive as well. With all the respect to others, but too many, mediocre at best, creations are hailed as masterpieces these days just because little funk 8n there, ir oud is used and Jinx seems to be a new house, so until i can find more economic way of trying - its a pass for me personally. But still curious.
Please share your thoughts when you receive it 🙌🏽

I mean, they're really good. They are not by any means perfectly blended scents but rather a showcase of VERY high quality raw materials.
Worth to atleast sample (even though samples are expensive) for fans of EO and the likes.
I had a hard time picking favorites since every one of them was a favorite at some point during the period of sampling them, but the least favorite had to be Jasmynal for me personally.

I agree, except that Jasmynal may be my favorite lol. It’s a polarizing one as it’s super dirty and the densest/spiciest of the lot but I find myself craving it. Clicking Frog and Black Chyp are both great as well, the only one that doesn’t really speak to me is Roza Ruh which is just not my style, a little too heavy on the bright citric rose, and it mildly irritated my skin. The two Patreon releases I own are very very nice as well.

The dirty feel is what made me love Clicking Frog so that's not the issue with Jasmynal. It just didn't speak to me in the way the others did. I think I would've wanted more of the jasmine because it was amazingly beautiful but just a bit too hidden in the composition to my nose!

Thank you both for your responses, very much appreciated.
@Theholyfilament, when you say that Jasmynal is super dirty, is that from the jasmine being super indolic or the overload of musk in it? Either way I'm super excited to try it, as I really enjoy a good jasmine perfume which my favorite has always been Sarrasins from Lutens. Already have tracking info and looks like it should be here Thursday. Also if anyone knows, does he include any samples with full bottle purchases?

I believe it’s the beaver tail oil that really stands out, it has that oily, viscous thick castoreum quality. I would agree with @DearMusk that the jasmine is more of a supporting player than the name might lead on. Certainly next to Sarrasins.

When I ordered I think I received a sample or two iirc 👍

So I received my package from Jinx Smells today of Jasmynal, cool presentation, no samples unfortunately, the opening reminds me of Ensar's Private Blend, a huge punch of musk, musk and more musk. After that settles, I'm starting to smell some jasmine, it's creamy and smooth. Only about 45 minutes into this but it's very nice. If you like natural musk, this might be one to try out. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

You guys should check out Heartistry Perfumery on Instagram. Super small batch, one man show, but he puts out some killer fragrances. He has one up for sale right now (edit: he sold out)

I hate to narrow my chances of grabbing a bottle when he releases stuff, but he deserves more attention.

Pretty poorly made overpriced fragrances using materials that shouldn’t be put into perfumes so haphazardly. I think this perfumer needs a few long years under their belt before they make anything close to the asking price. People are too afraid to speak honestly about some of these “indie” perfumers and in my opinion this brand is all hype, no skill, and overly expensive products.
