New fragrance from Christian Dior - Fève Délicieuse [Feve Delicieuse]

I thought I should share with all my favorite peeps here on Basenotes...

I got a word a few days ago that Christian Dior will be adding a new fragrance to their La Collection Privée line, in the second week of May 2015. The info was given to me over the phone by Dior, so I don't have any official notes written down, just jotted down a few comments from the conversation. The name of the fragrance - that's the most difficult part, lol... the person who I spoke with couldn't pronounce it, so me trying to give you the name will most likely butcher it even more. It sounded like "fauve délicieux" to my ears - but please keep in mind this is my phonetical version of what I was told, I could be (and most likely am) slightly off. Although I have to say I'd love that for a name of a fragrance. ;-)

The nose behind the fragrance is Dior's favorite perfumer, Francois Demachy.

The fragrance is described as "oriental-gourmand harmony", with notes of tonka bean, vanilla, south american root from [name of a] tree, caramel, praline. The overall vibe is that of milky sweet vanilla - with chocolate and smoky Madagascar vanilla.

So there you have it, that's all I know.

Also in May, Dior will be offering a promotion - four of the La Collection Privée bottles will be available in 450ml size. These will include Oud Ispahan, Grand Bal, Gris Montaigne, and Ambre Nuit. The only "catch" is that these will be splash flacons, not spray like their 250ml bottles.

In any case, a sweet gourmand, then; inspired by Korrigan?

450ml, wow! Sadly, not leather oud or any other i'd want to double-up.

Comfort food. Bonbons as Edmond Roudnitska called them. Easy to make. Easy to sell. Hope it's decent but a great perfumer like Francois Demachy must hate being part of the sugar infestation that started in the mid-90's and gained strength as regulations make it almost impossible to make anything without added sweets to cover up what's missing.

Dior and Francois need to get back to their Leather Oud mode.

Hmmm... "Fèves Délicieuses" does sound like a very plausible name for this composition, based on the ingredients, and it sounds very much like what I was told. Phonetically, at least.

Looking forward to trying this one... I'm not much of a sweet/gourmand guy, but I'll definitely give it a try. This line has really surprised me in many ways and made me appreciate things I wouldn't consider previously as my style, or "wearable" (Leather Oud being a perfect example).

Might need this one to test it from the notes Remik gave...As FYI, i used the below on Montale Chocolate Greedy & the machine broke...To me once u cross a line on the sweetness scale, it's not tolerable & while I don't want to put down a fragrance before it's released, this one sounds quite like a sweet, syrupy, vanillaic, praline candy...Pass for me...

Hopefully it's Mulungu root! (Erythrina mulungu). It has an earthy cinnamon apple like scent and would compliment the caramel and vanilla notes extremely well.

The bark and roots of this tree are utilized as an anti-anxiety, sedative and muscle relaxer in the amazon.

Always game to give something a try, above all in the hands of Francois Demachy (Dior homme parfum anyone?). I too am not a fan of the genre though. Not a pass for me, but not a blind buy either.

I think it'll be nice.

This is the exclusifs Dior line.
It might not be FBW, but it won't be experimental-bad.

Unfortunately, it is hard to say "NO" when a big company like Dior knocks the door with big cash.

My suggestion: Malle should hire Mr. Demachy.

lol Actually it is the meaning of "cabochard", stubborn, but I think it would be a great name (If it didn't sound this bad to me in french. Sounds goofy hahaha) especially for a masculine, no compromise, "I wear what I want" kind of fragrance

Hey, I was close, sooooo close. ;-)

I originally thought perhaps the name was "Faune Délicieux" which would be an interesting name. Fauve and faune are off by only one letter. A "delicions faun" (or unicorn, or centaur) would be kind of silly-fantastic, and somehow fitting the Dior brand.

I love classy and "simple" bottles such as Encre Noire, TF Private Blend ones or even Amouage and Dior Homme family but I hate Dior Collection Privée's ones! They look like big decant bottles.
