Hello! I have been searching for a recipe for an authentic Nag Champa scent but I can’t seem to find anything. I was thinking a base of sandalwood, but what else? There is so much contradicting information out there. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I love it....not simply, many many different recipes from many sources, but, approximately:
cinnamon,
patchouli,
sandalwood,
a bit of flowers oil
and a tons of honey/beeeswax, benzoin, vanilla,
and you have a similar scent...;-)

(ps:but if you want a scientific work, search on google, there are many things and some formula examples there...)

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I've been obsessed with making an Oriental/Incense type fragrance that's reminiscent of Nag Champa. Between the suggestions here and elsewhere, I recently did a sketch that came close. Formula below at 43.125% concentration.

Has anyone else had any luck getting something close to a Nag Champa? If so would you be willing to share some tricks?

This looks very interesting! What do you think is lacking from the nag champa effects? One idea would be to try using oxyoctaline formate instead of (or maybe with?) the ambrocenide at a few percent of the formula. In my observations, this material can create a powerful incense effect in the right context. Also, perhaps sandalore and/or polysantol might be worth trying instead of javanol for the santal component. Finally, (altho you haven't described performance at all), if you want to tune the smokiness, olibanol (Robertet) is IME smoother, less smoky than olibanum coeur (and somewhat more tenacious).

It is lacking a bit of the "dusty" woodiness, and could use a bit more sandalwood. This is the first time I've heard of Oxyoctaline formate, and could definitely fit the bill to pump the dustiness after reading its description on TGSC. I will order a small amount and try it, thank you! Sandalore and polysantol just happen to be the only other santal ACs I own, I will try incorporating them at the expense of some of the Cinnamic Alcohol + Musk Ketone.

The smokiness seems just about right, and could even use a little boost because I enjoy a smokey note. The castoreum/olibanum couer seem to be contributing more smoke than I was anticipating. Thank you for the suggestions.
