I've just recently discovered these houses, I like a few like Aoud Cuir d'Arabie, Black Aoud, Full Incense, Cedrat Boise. But with spring and summer not far away, I'd like to sample some fresh fragrances.

So far I've added to the list: Wind Wood, Wave Musk, Fougeres Marines, Sandflowers, Embruns d'Essaouira, Red Vetiver.

What are your opinions on those? Do you know of any other Pierre Montale's creations that might be labeled as 'fresh'?

Those that you listed are all nice IMO. Own every Montale and Mancera release so I'm sure I can come up with a few. One recent Mancera - Fabulous Yuzu is a good one.

I've tried a lot of Montale/Mancera and a huge amount of them get bad to me in the drydown, but you have quite a few of the ones I rated as okay if not buys - Black aoud, cedrat boise, red vetiver, fougeres marines. The last is their lean-aquatic scent and is the only of those that seems close to fresh. Wind Wood is one of only two or three have ever bought.... pepper, wood, touch of leather... a bit like Givenchy Gentlemen Only. Does not seem fresh at all to me... they seem to have that house oud thing going on, or the ones lean gourmand (vanilla cake etc), and the third group of "wave/musk" ones..... few of which seem fresh.

Found wave musk and aqua gold not good.....

Yes, Montale seems more into oud which I find boring and gourmand and sweet perfumes which I don't like. And some are contested as far as quality goes. That's why I want to make a list, read and watch reviews and order samples before buying full bottles. But even with samples, I want to limit the number a bit.

Have to give credit to Montale as far as samples. Check the web site, they have discovery sets with 7 samples at a reasonable price. They have multiple by category, one for ouds, one for fruit type, one is best sellers, few more I forget. The best seller had Fougere Marine and Black Oud (when I got it....). They also had a make your own, but I think it was maybe 5 or 6 not 7 but you could pick what you wanted Unless you have a store nearby that carries a large selection the sets are the best way to check them out......
