This is a place where you can post fragrances that are missing from the directory.

Post them here and I will enter them, or if you don't want to wait you can add them yourself, using this form
: http://www.basenotes.net/contribute.php

Please provide a link to where you found information about the fragrance. If the link includes information on the notes, that's tremendously helpful!

All entries have to be approved by Grant. The approval time varies and current releases usually take priority over older scents.
When I have entered the fragrance I will edit your post to include a Thumbs Up-icon thumbs-up-24.gif so I don't lose track of what I've worked on and what's left.

You can also post about missing brands.

There's an entry for "Braggi"... which is attributed to some off-brand called "Long Lost Perfume."

Braggi was created by Charles Revson in the 1960's.

I think the current entry is for a "remake" by some kind of company that remakes old discontinued fragrances. I would reject this... it's not "real". They even claim 1966... which is absurd. Charles Revson made it back then. At the very least, make sure Charles Revson Braggi is added, using attached image.

Please update - thanks!

The publishing year is the year of the original fragrance by Revlon. What I think we need is a note that specifies more clearly that at some point the scent was discontinued and in 1995 Long Lost Perfume launched a reconstruction.

As for photos: The current one is probably the only one we have permission to publish, but if anyone has nice photos of the original bottle it can be uploaded on the page by using the "Member Images" feature.

Hi furrypine, the only thing is that I think the reconstruction should be kept as a separate entry. It's not the same as the original. Revson company as it was doesn't exist any longer and I doubt Revlon would have any interest in photo usage of Braggi. I do have this fragrance and I'll take some photos for you.

Hi FP!

Now that I've persuaded you to try some Baruti, any updates on getting Dama Koupa in the directory? I believe it was released October 2016. It's on both Fragrantica & Parfumo.

Thanks :)

I added Dama Koupa some time ago and 2016 releases usually show up in the directory after a short time. And Baritu is definitely a brand more people should try!

Can we also post about faulty fragrance directory entries here? I don't see any clear mechanism on the site for this purpose.

Jovoy Rouge Assassin. Fault -- incorrect spelling. Entry has "Assasin". An "S" is missing.

Edited by Furrypine to add: thumbs-up-24.gif Yes, you can post corrections here. I've notified Grant and he will change the name.

ETA2: All submitted via the contribute-form.

Edited by Furrypine to add: Great that you used to contribute form. Then I don't have to do anything :)

Edited by anessa to add: :wink:Just hope that the reference source I used is accurate enough, for those not from the official brand websites.

Although I already added all the info in the submit form, I just realized I didn't include linked info in the post, so I'll do that now if it helps speed the process along.

Only 2 of the 6 Perris Monte Carlo Extraits are in the directory (Santal du Pacifique & Absolue d'Osmanthe). Missing are:

Rose de Taif Extrait
Ylang Ylang Nosy Be Extrait
Patchouli Nosy Be Extrait
Oud Imperial Extrait

I believe they are all 2016 releases, maybe 2015.
______________________________________

The newest Bruno Fazzolari, Feu Secret is still not showing up. In the queue perhaps? A 2017 release.
______________________________________

The newest from Providence Perfume Co. Heart of Darkness is missing. 2016 or 2017 I believe.
______________________________________

Also, Neil Morris Tea House is missing. It's no longer on his website, details are few. Not hopeful but thought I'd mention it.
______________________________________

And while I'm here, why not nitpick? ;) Few Typos:

1) Baruti Berlin im Winter currently has "Im" capitalized, but according to the company it is not.

2) Also, a 2016 Tom Ford, Vert des Bois is currently in as "Vert de Bois".

Edited by Fyrrypine to add: I have registered all of the above, except Feu Secret, which is already in the directly. I will let Grant know about the typos. thumbs-up-24.gif

Typos fixed - JB.

I completely understand that it is a lot of work for so little people to keep up with all the releases, but, for such an important perfume site, BN is a lot behind the other big fragrance sites regarding fragrance database and speed of new releases showing up on the site.

Would it be possible to create some form of adding fragrances to the directory in which members might do it by themselves? I know it exists allready, but waiting for approval after you fill the form still takes too long. I was thinking more of a direct submission after you fill all recquired fields (of course title, perfumer, notes, photo upload etc. should be mandatory fields so that it all looks presentable and any additional info might be optional) and allow it only to trusted members and regular posters after certain number of posts?
Maybe a direct link for submission on the webpage and an Edit button in case some mistakes happen or someone else would want to add more info.

I assume this might lift some weight off Grant's and moderators' shoulders and would speed up the whole adding to the directory process.
I know this also raises issues of accuracy and checking things up before they actually show up on the site, but I think trusted members would be careful and check all the info before they would submit fragrances.

This is just an idea and I would love to hear some thoughts about it, but I really think some thought shoud be put into it because it is important to keep BN up to date.

I agree with all of that. There should be really some kind of users' involvement in this, so that the staff just has to check the entries.
Also because I don't understand the criteria involved with the prioritization of the entries - I see completely obscure stuff being added weekly while popular fragrances like Carven Le Vetiver or Divine's new masculine scent from mid-2016 still aren't there.

It's going to take a lot longer. Please remind me if it's not published by the end of 2018.

l'd assume you're joking, except there's no smiley in your post...

Thanks, Judith. Does this mean you're going to add it now? lt has been nearly four months....

Hi Teardrop,

I didn't add it as I don't have access to the queue of unpublished fragrances (unless it's one I've personally added) and I was hoping to avoid any duplicates being published which might happen if I also added it for you myself, as it's more complicated to delete a fragrance (as duplicates generally need to be merged for the sake of wardrobes/reviews, unless it's done immediately they appear). Sorry this all sounds a bit complicated!

I've mentioned this issue to Grant, as we have an automatic order for publication, but he may be able to look for this fragrance specifically for you to get it done.
