Looking for an accord or aromachem to match this profile

So I made one of the key mistakes in fragrance crafting. I bought a fragrance oil. This is when I was just starting out about 4 weeks ago. The title of it is tobacco. Ebony. I would describe it as a chocolate cigar type smell with hints of smokiness and sweetness.

Problem is I really like this smell and I have been using it in one of my fragrance formulas. I understand in the world of fragrances, no two oils and no two aroma chems are created the same and while something might smell similar, it can throw off the entire profile of a fragrance. However, I am looking for recommendations of substitutions for this Tobacco Ebony. Anyone have any experience with tobacco notes? I would really love it if you could chime in and make a recommendation for a substitution.

Thank you all for your continued assistance while I continue to gain an education in perfumeology.

If you're going for a cigar tobacco accord then you're in for a ride--for better or worse. Basically tobacco absolute will only get you so far if you choose to use it in a tobacco accord. That's because a lot of tobacco that's sold has a lot of flavorings. If you search for "tobacco" in the DIY forum, there's a lot of threads (25 pages worth!) that either directly or incidentally cover this subject. Here's a recent one: https://basenotes.com/threads/what-are-your-favourite-tobacco-synthetics.532714/.

When I made an accord inspired by some pipe tobacco I had, there were a few aspects I focused on: the coumarinic, vanillic, fruity, boozy, and lactonic. I used tobacco absolute (nicotine free!), tabanon, coumarin, immortelle absolute, vanillin, ethyl vanillin, ultravanil, dimethyl benzyl carbinol butyrate (DMBCB), damascenone, raspberry ketone, maltol, oakwood base (ventos), benzoin oliffac, labdanum absolute clear, whiskey lactone, octahydrocoumarin, gamma hexalactone.

I have seen a lot of recommendations for just tabanon and tobacarol, but if I were to use just two aromachemicals, I'd use coumarin and tabanon (8.5 times more coumarin than tabanon).

This is the exact Tobacco Ebony that smells great. Unfortunately there is no SDS included with it. The brand is Hiqili. You cannot buy this "fragrance oil" by itself, and the rest of the included oils in the men's oil set smell mediocre to terrible at best. If I could I would buy a large container of the Tobacco Ebony from them, but all I can find online is it in a set of 6 terrible oils. This is why I am looking for the closest thing.

Again, it smells like a sweet chocolatey vanilla like tobacco with hints of smoke. It smells nothing like ISO e super You could be correct but I doubt that that is the primary ingredient in this oil.

Does it smell of sandalwood at all? Just wondering if the 'ebony' in the name hints at ebanol, which Is a dark syrupy sandalchem. Either way, ebanol is worth exploring, if you don't have it. Sandalwood and tobacco go well together too.

For tobacco I would start by exploring tabanon, coumarin, vanillin and/or ethyl vanillin and damascones, maybe methyl diantilis too. There are a lot of tobacco threads on this forum, so you could explore those.

hope this helps.

I looked around this morning for you, and was unable to find either an SDS doc, or the real supplier's name.

I would suggest looking into some dark, rootsy Haitian vetivers or Australian sandalwood, which smells Very different from the Indian type. Many tobacco-centric smells also come with the tiniest hint of fruit, often cherry, to simulate the facets of real leaf, kind of like how oakmoss oil also smells a bit like wintergreen.

You can try to buy the usually called "tobacco blonde" abs that some sellers offer. It is sweeter and more creamy than Virginia or other. Maybe ultravanil hint can give you a touch of vanillic smokiness and hay absolute can be very nice for a good sweet tobacco effect.
