let's start a vintage Versace thread

Well, I love Versace L'homme although I don't have deep vintage version (light brown/tan box thin letters). I have the most recent version and vintage vintage light brown/tan box with thicker logo. I don't notice much of a difference between them. Maybe a more synthetic vibe in the top notes that fade quickly. Which version is yours?
Back to my favourites: aforementioned L'homme, Metal Jeans and Black Jeans. I also like Versus Uomo, but I can't say It's a favourite of mine.

I love Versace L'Homme, but aside of that one, I cannot think of a single other Versace that I have tried that would be worth spending time discussing (for my tastes).
Admittedly, I have never tried any of the 90's 'Jeans' collection, though - even if I doubt that these could drastically change my overall (poor) opinion on that house.

I have trouble getting over my general distaste for the bombastic Versace aesthetic (Gianni or Donatella), but I still have a couple pairs of Versace boots and I share the approval of Versace l'Homme. I haven't tried any other Versace fragrance, though, and it's going to take some convincing it make it a priority.

L'Homme is the only Versace nosed by Roger Pellegrino (Macassar [w/Nicolas Mamounas], One Man Show, etc.), which could certainly explain why it's a singular fragrance from the house.

The original (women's) Gianni Versace 'Versace' is (was) a rich, spicy, resinous, well done early 80s beauty. It doesn't seem to get much attention even from vintage lovers, and with the obscene amount of excellent 70s/80s fragrances in my closet I forget about it myself. Thanks to this thread I decided to make it tonight's bedtime perfume and I am once again captivated by it.
I imagine a lot of people have either never had access to it or even worse have only experienced the late edition miniature edts that are often on eBay for way more than they were worth even before they aged, and that's too bad..anyone who likes the great late 70s to mid 80s feminines should have a bit in their closet ♥️

Love the vintage versions of Versace L'Homme and The Dreamer. I think it's very much worth going vintage with L'Homme, but the current version of the Dreamer is more than fine. The vintage is definitely better, it' a little bit smoother/less synthetic, but not worth paying an outrageous premium for.

I have:
-A big 200 ml Versace l'HOMME made BY YSL, so deep vintage
-A 100 ML l' homme by giver spa, vintage
-The Versace donna/ woman wich indeed is underrated a true banger, but very nuclear, so strong..
-Versace Versus

All newer stuff is not for me, they called Versace fashions last emperor...maybe he was, but all designer houses turned to someyhing ugly, the Art is gone...

So saying "let's start the thread" as the title of the thread itself is like threadception or something. 🤪

It's Monday, my brain isn't ready for Escheresque paradoxes. 🤯🤯🤯🤯

My vintage Versace includes:

Versus
Blue Jeans
The Dreamer
Man (purple one)

My L'Homme is technically not a vintage bottle, but it smells good so I've been lazy on getting older specimens. I know with this one older is better, since I've smelled older, I just been making due because current is still excellent.

that looks awesome. I don't know about the year. What's the ingredient list like? Is there a bar code on the bottom, printed on the box?
There is a bar code. The ingredients list is short.
based on some info from ROTLS it’s from 1995

I bought a big box of carded samples of the Gianni Versace EDT. It is absolutely fantastic. It is so rich, so natural, and so unapologetically Italian and sexy.

It makes me imagine an extravagant dinner al fresco on the terrace with Gianni Versace at his residence in Calabria - in the very south of Italy. Dinner is over, but red wine is still flowing. Dessert is being served, alongside coffee and various digestif liqueurs. There is a jasmine vine blooming on the pergola overhead, and Donatella is holding court while smoking a long, white cigarette...

That said, the gorgeous mossy dry-down makes this 100% unisex, especially in today's gourmand obsessed market. I poured all of the samples into an upcycled Serge Lutens bottle, and spray with abandon when I wear it.
