Leather essential oil

Jun 20, 2015
I ordered some leather essential oil that I was planning on putting in my diffuser you know that I add with water. well the scent is so strong that I just I don't like it but I generally sort of like the leather scent. what I'm getting at is, I do like very flowery scents and Woody scents so I'm wondering if there's a way that I can use this up by adding some other ingredients. Does anybody have any recipes, things that would go well with leather? Thanks so much

Just buy something(s) made of leather and treat it/clean it every so often. It'll make whatever room they're in smell leathery.

God knows what you'd be putting in to the atmosphere (and therefore your body) if you go down this route.

As others have already mentioned, I'd really like to see how they extract the "essential oil" of leather. Steam the leather skins and use molecular distillation to extract the natural oils? :ROFLMAO::LOL:

I think I've seen everything now 🫣

If the seller/brand is legitimate, the bottle of leather scent will actually be labeled "fragrance oil". I have the feeling that the OP probably bought leather fragrance oil from a company that sells a lot of essential oils as well as fragrance oils that are fantasy accords made from essentials (and possibly synthetics).

To the OP, maybe try adding as little of the oil as possible to your diffuser. You could also take a small amount of the oil, dilute it in jojoba oil (or other neutral oil) to lessen it's strength, and then use a drop of that dilution in your diffuser.

Finally, Milkbaby, some sanity. Yours is the best reply because it was kind. You understood that I was buying leather fragrance oil from a company that sells a lot of essential oils as well as fragrance oils that are fantasy accords made from essentials (and possibly synthetics). I think some people thought i was buying leather scented gasoline for gosh sakes. Lol. I merely asked for recipes to be added to a leather scent I had to tone it down, something along the lines of perhaps tobacco and vanilla. I also found leather smells might be from birch tar (which has a leathery smokiness), or juniper, aldehydes or other synthetics, designed to give a skin-like scent. Patchouli, black tea and tobacco have also conjured up that old library/leather-jacket sensuality. I actually was able to return the item and stop playing scientist. .. I'm having a delight now with what I've found at Dossier. Their room diffusers smell heavenly. Thanks for your kind reply.
