I wonder when this will make its debut in the States. Very interested in this one.

This came out a few months ago here in Europe.

It’s a denser and thicker version of the edt. Fairly similar in smell, although the overall feel seems almost milky at times.
The tonka bean and iris are more pronounced but it remains versatile enough.
I actually prefer it to the edt.

I've tried it a few months ago. The performance is nuclear, it lasted three weeks on a paper strip before I tossed it out. It's rather sweet and creamy too, and might be a good alternative BR540 if you don't like that one or are anosmic to it.

Thanks for sharing your impressions on this. That's what I was hoping .

Just managed to find it at an online retailer in France and bought it.

I bought it at SAKS in Toronto in mid December. We never get MFK ahead of SAKS USA. It ought to be out and readily available south of the 49th. Posted for others as I see you have a bottle on the way... Oh and it is much better, to my nose, than the EDP which I did not buy into beyond a traveller. More spice and complexity making it feel just right.

What's holding you back if you don't mind my asking?

I really do not know.

Thinking back, I really enjoyed the original release and I now have a gap there now since my son stole that bottle when he went to college a few months back. I really didn't reach for it much when I had it, but when I did wear it, I loved it.

Guess this year has been more about compelling purchases and less about filling gaps (so far).

I got to try this at Neiman Marcus, they had a tester. to me its very similar to the original Amyris, maybe a tad deeper but at least 90% the same.

I have a bottle since before Christmas.

It is indeed close to BR540 owing to the slight sweetness (more than the EdT - this is the added vanilla I think?). Some note is in there that I can't pinpoint (it's a woody but comes across as airy as well) which is much stronger in the extrait.

It's a longer lasting version of the EdT (which I've recently come to love and intend on using extensively in the warmer months), but I just can't see myself owning both.

Amyris is an extremely strong fragrance in its regular concentration. i just don't see the need to make this in extrait form, except as yet another cash grab.

Francis........ stop with the forte and extrait rehashing of old ideas and come up with NEW FRAGRANCES. you seem to have hit a writer's block of sorts...

He's supposed to be coming out with a new line this year. We'll see.

Taking back my previous comments.
I wore both BR540 and the Amyris Extrait and I think I love the Amyris more than the BR540. Don’t know if it’s because of the changing season but Amyris is now one of my favourite scents by far. Both the EdT and the Extrait are worth owning IMHO. There are subtle differences but noticeable enough to me. Can’t wait to put this on as the seasons get warmer.

Dang. I loved the Amyris EDT and held off because this line is not a cheap addiction. But BR is pretty genius, IMO. You're tempting me!!!

I really like the extrait too and notice the differences. I prefer it to the edt, I find the drydown to be less harsh, but still present. It's great.

Ooh, that's interesting! I love everything about Amyris except for the harshness of the base. I may need to get my nose on the Extrait, because if Amyris Extrait is Amyris without the harshness, I'd probably love it.

He told me this personally when I was invited to a lunch for him at Nieman Marcus last year.

So... you're saying you've only got one source? That's the best you can do?

...seriously though, that's awesome. I look forward to sampling whatever he's working on next. I'm a huge fan of Kurkdjian's work, especially the stuff he makes for his own house.

I received Aramis Extrait about 2 weeks ago and it’s something special. I thought the original was just okay but this one is another level of awesome. If you are a fan of the edt I would say give this a look. Also if you are not a fan of the original still give this a look. It’s still different but similar if that makes sense.

Funny this thread re-appearing now, just finished MFK sampling in last two weeks. Amyris Extrait was the only one I had at/above 3 out of 5 on the first wearing. (Didn't really dislike any of them, but they didn't really do much for me either....) After I tried each one then I would read the notes and reviews on here to compare. I liked Amyris the best but it had the worst reviews out of the 7 or 8 I tried, but then I noticed there was no distinction for extrait and they might be reviewing the regular version.....

I can't think of too many "extraits" I have had... Anyway.... is it normal for the directory to have a separate listing for an extrait? I have seen separate listings for EDT versus EDP before.....

And I have not tried the regular version, so can't make any comments how the extrait compares....

Good point. I have requested the Extrait to be added to the directory as it has some differences in the notes balance. As far as I am aware it wasn't finally added earlier in the week - there is currently a back log of scents to be added. I put my review in shortly after.

I think I am in the minority here for owning both.

- EdT hash more of the harsher notes. I think FK refers to oud and coffee notes and I think that's what I'm detecting in the EdT that I describe as 'harsh'. The EdT is such that over-spraying it results in an uneven note balance; an olfactory mess actually.

- The Extrait is much smoother and longer lasting. Again, not one to be over-sprayed; this is an Extrait after all. The fresher notes and tonka are more pronounced here, with the oud/coffee (if that's what they are) completely smoothed out.

I couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I have ended up with both.
