Jamais de la vie - does this perfume exist?

One of my favourite books is the Alexandria Quartet by Lawrence Durrell (well, it's actually a series of four books). One of the main characters in this book (Justine) wears a perfume called "Jamais de la vie". It is also the name of a popular song that the characters occasionally hear from a radio or in a bar. Does anyone know if there has ever been a real perfume (or song) called "Jamais de la vie"? The book takes place in Alexandria, Egypt in the 40s or early 50s. Her lover describes it as "her warm summer perfume" (my translation). Any ideas, dear Basenoters?

By the way, if I ever had the money to make have a scent custom-made for me - I would ask the perfumer to read this book and try to summarize it in a perfume. Does that make sense to you?

Of course it could, it probably is. But if there is a chance that it has existed, I figured that Basenotes would be the place to ask about it.
