I Smell. . . a Dupe

Again, my web log serves as a confessional. Oh, why do I feel so dirty?

Three years ago, a benevolent swapper at MakeUpAlley sent me a sample of Must de Cartier parfum, but she also sent me a small vial of "a dupe." I was really busy at the time, and I didn't have a chance to sample either parfum or "dupe." But since getting onto a Must de Cartier EdT kick last week, I rummaged through my piles of samples and found them.

The dupe wasn't even labeled.

I admit. I hear so much about dupes, and none of it is positive. Here on Basenotes. On other webforums. Just in general. The vibe I get is "Don't do it!"

But yesterday, I tred it. I tried a dupe. And I LIKED IT! Yes, I LIKED IT!

The opening did smell like Must de Cartier (not the parfum, the EdT, er 2005 version). However, as the drydown progressed, it changed. It still smelled lovely, and it held similar characteristics of Must de Cartier, but it was different. It had a bit of a combination of something I like in Neil Morris' Prowl. Tuberose perhaps? Which I really don't get out of Must de Cartier.

So, I actually like it. . .

. . . more than the parfum.

There I said it!

Okay, now I'm going to go say my 3 Hail Mary's and an Our Father.
