I've owned this many times, but my current bottle is unreal. My wife could smell it coming down the stairs to our living room this morning. I was in the master bedroom. With the door closed. It has stayed with me strong all day, and re bloomed huge when I just ran a couple of miles.

Lot A331C08. It's a stunner. Great sillage and lasts all day. I only wish all Creeds did this well for me. I have about 40% of a 4 OZ bottle left, so I'm good for a couple more years.

Is this what they mean by batch variation? Is this the same as reformulation, or is there some other explanation for varying results? Very strange that the consistency seems to be almost non-existent for this brand. But glad it worked it your favor this time.

You're quite right my friend. It's a crap shoot with Creed. I just got lucky with this one. Notice that it's 6 years old. They say it takes a few years for Creeds to mature.

I think there's a digit missing between the 1 and the C. That digit is what indicates the year.

Oh, and it's pronounced nuke-u-lar. ;)

Mine is also quite potent - all gold bottle variety purchased when first released. Love it but have no idea what the batch number is.

I saw that same batch number on a bottle on ebay earlier today. I thought it was strange too. It's being sold by the seller 'theperfumechoice'. Not sure if i can post links or not

That's odd, thanks for double checking.

I found the listing Caligula mentioned and it checks out.

I had thought the old batch number system ended in 2007 and the new one started in 2008, but it looks like it may have not been such a clean break. However, wasn't the solid gold bottle phased out in 2007 and replaced with the current bottle in 2008? It's odd that the bottle change was made but not the batch number change in this instance.

I have a 2008 batch with the newer batch number convention and it's great.

Having looked through "theperfumechoice"'s offerings, I don't doubt the authenticity of what is for sale, but wow, are there many many Creed's with odd (wrong?) coloured caps that I've never seen before.

Just the MI, there was one with a silver (?!) cap and one with a black (?!?!) cap!!!

Also a Green Valley with a white cap!?!?

Was Olivier Creed's work area ransacked recently??

Mine is the clear bottle.

Is this whole frags mature/change with age thing true?

Great question. I have a so-so bottle of Aventus that I'm going to hold onto and see if it's true. Let it age and breathe a little.

I also have a 2010 bottle of MI that I keep in a drawer away from heat and light. Hopefully by the time my current batch runs out it will be in prime condition.

Weird little scenario, huh?

I love MI. It's a scent I can happily say I was dead wrong about. I sampled it in winter and thought it lasted maybe an hour or two. I wrote it off as being garbage. Boy was I wrong. I decided to try it again on a hot day and it easily lasted 10 hours for me, and it projected really well. I didn't even finish the sample. In fact, I gave it away here on BN because I immediately bought a bottle.

My bottle is from 2013: LT3313Q01. I get 10+ hours and really nice projection from 2 and a half sprays. I like it a lot.

I think it's the nose that matures or gets more "experienced" and not the frags.

I agree.

This was easy for me to realize because before I found basenotes, I was a one-bottle guy. I'd buy a bottle of something and wear it until it was gone, and then I'd buy something else. Since joining basenotes, I wear more scents in a week than I used to over a decade (a 3.4 oz bottle used to last me 2 years, so a decade was 5 bottles). Often, these days, I'll smell a scent I wore years ago and think it's shockingly different than I remember. But it's not that the scent has changed. Heck, in some cases, I still own the old bottle. It's that I've learned so much and have so much more to compare the scent to.

Well, I for one believe that scents do mature, macerate, oxidise...whatever. i tested Aventus several times and thought the scent was weak and put off buying it for a couple of years even though I liked it. When I did buy it and wore it a couple of times I had the same opinion. I decanted 5mL into a travel sprayer and wore it rarely. When it ran out and refilled the sprayer, it seemed to have changed. It lasted longer and smelled somewhat stronger to my nose. I don't believe my nose matured (my nose is mature. Heck, my whole body is mature!), I believe the scent changed. I could be wrong, but that is my opinion and I am sticking with it!
