Howdy y’all-
I’ve recently started out in making perfume.
I have some formulas I’m really confident in, and they’re about done macerating.
Algebra is not my strong suit, and I’m wondering how to dilute my perfume concentrates to their bottling dilution
(For example- if my perfume concentrate is 130 grams, how much solvent would I need to dilute that to 25%?) I would really appreciate a mathematical formula or some help. Please and thank you,

Austin

Basically you want your 130 grams to be 25% of the total.
So what is the total amount of your finished product?
130g x 100% =13,000
and then divide 13,000 by 25(%)=520g finished total

Your total finished product will be 130g(25%concentrate)+390g(75%Solvent)=520g(finished fragrance)
(Search google for cross multiplication)
-------------------
Another way to view it is:
25% is actually 1/4 of 100% ( 4x25%=100%)
So if you want a 25% dilution and your concentrate is 130g (the concentrate makes up 1/4 of the total).
Multiply 130 by 4 to get the total finished product.(4x130=520)
520-138=390
So 390 is what you need for solvent.
---------------------
OR:
130*100=25*Finished
Finished=(130*100)/25
Finished=13000/25
F=520

Solvent =Finished-Concentrate
Solvent=520-130
Solvent = 390

Thanky you so much! That was the equation I was looking for. It seems so easy reading it and I couldn’t figure it out 🙃 I appreciate it greatly
