Havana Reserva (1996) vs Havana (1994)

The Estee Lauder Company provided the following response to my question about the differences between Havana Reserva (1996) and Havana (1994).  There is no difference, apart from Havana Reserva's "higher concentration."

than the original Havana.  It was the same fragrance.

I've wondered about this for some time. I can say that my Havana Reserva seems smoother than my Havana, though I love both.

Reserva trully is a concentrated version of the original ,as stated on its box,but Reserva tends to last less time on me.Since personally I can't find any other difference between the two editions I could say that having just the original is more than enough,no need to own both bottles.
By the way,which one is more rare nowadays?

I find it much easier to find Havana than Reserva here in So Cal. There are perfumeries here that are still selling 1oz. bottles of the original, but no one has Reserva.

I have to agree with Stuigi. The Reserva is IMO a somewhat toned-DOWN version. Don't get me wrong, still a most excellent frag but without so much of the wonderfully chaotic opening of the original and the drydown does seem a bit more subdued and less lasting. I suspect Maura Verderam, Global Consumer Communications at Estee Lauder, was just giving a stock, non-controversial PR approved and reason-for-manufacture answer.

I mean, I don't think Estee Lauder would admit selling what should have been an improvement but didn't quite do the job, would they? That might make you question some of their other fragrances.

I own both and while they're 95% the same, to me there are some (very) minor differences. I actually prefer Reserva to the original. Reserva lasts a bit longer on me as well, but not enough that it would effect which one you would buy... It's my favorite scent, and that's why I own both, but if it is just another scent in your collection you could easily live with either one...

I usually buy Havana & Havana Reserva from BeautyEncounter. For a while now, they only have had the Reserva...
