Hi everyone,
Bleu Satin.jpg
from Parfums MDCI website

I tried a sample of Bleu Satin and really loved the Aventus profile with watermelon and no smoke. There's also a faint jasmine note that's not indolic at all and the leather is very nice--overall very nice smelling and a bit more youthful than Aventus. I've tried Aventus and really liked it as well.

My problem with Bleu Satin is that it's $250 USD for 75ml and it only lasts about 3 hours on me. While I prioritize how a perfume smells more than how long it lasts, the price does make me conflicted.

My reasons for purchasing:
I can comfortably afford it and I mostly buy samples
I don't wear perfume everyday and I can probably make it last.
Still cheaper than Aventus (retail) and different enough to not be a clone
Smells really nice to me (I used to like challenging fragrances but not anymore) and probably won't bother others
One of the few perfumes that make me want a bottle

Not purchasing:
Price to longevity ratio
I haven't tried Cedrat Boise and other fragrances in the category that Aventus created yet
Not groundbreaking...just smells nice

Should I give Cedrat Boise a go? Any other ones I should consider?

No need to feel foolish!

My two cents and worth every penny...

Watch out for sudden love. Maybe I'm overly sensitive here because I fell for MDCI Cuir Cavalier on first test and bought it.
Ended up loathing the stuff and swapped it. It wasn't that it was a bad scent per se. Just not my taste during a full wearing.

If you've given Blue Satin some good wearings, still love it and are very accepting of the short longevity, maybe go for it. You've made it sound like it's not an affordability issue. I just don't want to see you angry at yourself in two months for buying something that doesn't last (been there, done that). About the third time I tried wearing Cuir Cavalier I was getting really pissy with myself. It was all saffron and no "cuir" to my nose.

Our tastes different too much for me to be much help there. Dislike Aventus. Didn't like Cedrat Boise (it does last though).

I guess all I'm saying is give it a little more air...maybe try Cedrat Boise.

I do love and wear MDCI Invasion Barbare which is in all reality about a four hour scent...maybe a bit more- so I do understand accepting some compromises for a scent you really like. But I sampled the crap out of it. Maybe two decants worth...

Thanks so much for the helpful and understanding response :' )

I ordered a 5ml decant of Bleu Satin off Scent Split in order to live with the perfume a little more. This is definitely a case of extremely good first impressions. Two decants of Invasion Barbare is admirable...now that's what I call sampling

Great! Wise idea.

I was pretty weird about Invasion Barbare. First worked a small sample. Then bought a larger decant and worked that awhile.
Funny to me right now recalling that and my first impressions. It was not love at first sniff but something intrigued me.

There's no way to rationalize my collection of fragrances from a financial standpoint. It's a luxury. At the same time, I don't feel guilty about any fragrance purchase. I also make sure it's done with disposable income and never affects my household in a negative way. If I have the ability and the desire, I do it. If I have any doubts about a fragrance, it's usually related to whether I'm in the honeymoon phase with something new or if I truly like it. In those cases, what you're doing is a perfect solution. After you finish your decant, get it if you love it and don't look back. I'm actually in a state that I'm trying to downsize my collection to fragrances that I truly only love, which is proving to be way more difficult than simply acquiring fragrances that I like/love. Best of luck!
