Dior Homme Sport (2021) - Your thoughts?

Really curious about this one. Contrary to the general consensus on BN, I loved DHS2017. While its performance wasn't all that great and to my nose the scent didn't really fit the 'Sport' label, I felt like it had a certain underrated classiness which was often overlooked by people.

Tried it today. Maybe my nose is broken, but the vibe I got was Sauvage Elixir miced with DH2020, an impression that lasted for a couple of hours. Then the «Elixir» wore off, and it was more a skin scent, softer than the opening.

Just ok. I tried it a couple of times but it's basically the DHS 2017 with an added incense note up top. Nice and crisp but seems flat once it dries down..

Well I’m going to disagree with the disappointed folks here. I honestly was completely surprised on this one snd bought a 2.5 oz immediately after trying. I swore off buying for awhile and was in Sephora because it was 20% off with my wife’s number there. I was sniffing freshies but just grabbed this thinking it would be close to what I smelled before. I was quite shocked. It did remind me of the DH2020 with the woods but the bright citrus was better than DH2020. I find this great all around and something I couldn’t stop putting my nose on. Honestly this is one of their better releases and something I could see as a staple for all occasions. Much more sophisticated for a Sport

Does it smell more along the lines of the current DH 2020? If it smells similar but a little lighter with a bit of citrus in the opening, it's probably legit.

I blind bought this a few weeks ago based on the pedigree. I own all the previous iterations. 2008 and 2012 are absolutely amazing. With the 2017 release, I saw a sharp turn towards the common synthetic aromachemicals... It still smelled "nice" but lacked most of what made 2008 and 2012 so great. This latest release continued down the same path - a deeper dip into the sharp cheap chemicals and less of the smooth natural smell of the previous versions. It smells nice, but not anything that would inspire me to wear it very often. It smells like a cheap knockoff of the previous stuff. Decent enough for a few bucks in a drugstore-brand line, but not worthy of the once great Dior lineup.

I've lost track with how many reformulations Dior has had. My DHS was made 2015 I forget when was the next reformulation, but I like my version a lot.

DH Silver stem
DH First reformulation
DHI Silver stem
DHI First and second reformulation
DH Cologne 2016
DH Parfum original one
Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum (black box 2012)
Several Dior Fahrenheits and flankers
Dior Sauvage EDT (don't like it much, other than the opening)
Dior Sauvage Elixir (this one I do like)

2009 Dior Homme Intense is my favorite followed by first reformulation of Dior Homme.

I need to spend more time with this one, but my take on it after a first full-day wear is that Demachy is cleverly using olibanum and elemi to get a "lemon" effect, instead of more obvious citrus notes. Frankincense resin (olibanum) can have a lemon facet, and the olibanum dominates for me in the first several hours, surrounded by very modern synthetic woods. It's a different mix of synth woods than in DH2020, or at least, I find this one ends up being more brash than the new Dior Homme. In fact, later in the day, DHS2021 was starting to irritate me a bit with a chemical-solvent sort of effect that these woody chemicals can have. But the overall wear was still intriguing and now and then I truly enjoyed it, especially the incense aspect.

In fact, the combination of incense and aldehydes with a fairly overwhelming synth-woods base reminded me here and there of CDG 2 Man. The two don't smell the same, but have a similar abstract-liturgical very modern-synthetic thing going on.

Definitely a different way to do a "Sport" flanker, regardless of whether or not it works for you.

Side by side, Dior Homme Sport 2021 with PdM Galloway, LV Sur la Route - don't know if I can tell the difference. I don't like this new Sport as much as the earlier DH Sport versions, but it is a decent generic woody musk vetiver cologne. It lost the spices of the DH Sport 2012, lost the powder of the '17 and is now much more generic, acceptable, and boring.

The current DHS has no relation to the old. It's a totally different scent that re-uses the DHS name. In other words, Dior discontinued DHS and then re-used the name for a brand new scent. Dior did the same thing a few years later with Dior Homme. The current Dior Homme has no relation to the iris heavy work of art that made the name Dior Homme famous. The current Dior Homme is just a trendy citrus over fake woods. I assume at some point they'll do the same thing to Dior Homme Intense and Dior Homme Parfum.

I’ve got a big bottle of early DH and DHI, as well as a bottle of DHS 2012, so I’m stocked up on the originals. I should grab a bottle of DHP before it disappears too!

Sigh. It is. Revolving door. I get stressed over 40. Probably topped out in the 60s, sold/gave away 100s now.

This is primarily a cedarwood frag to me. There are tons of cheap options that will walk the same path, but this is up there in the top of it's class (mass appeal cedarwood) to me. The elemi is a very nice compliment that I wouldn't have initially thought to group together.

I agree about the cedar and elemi combo, and I also love the pepper notes, which remind me of a better-done K by Dolce & Gabbana. There's also "treemoss" here, which gives an edge not found in DH2020.

The lemony-waxy aldehydes in this, combined with what olibanum there is, gives me CdG 2 Man vibes. Not that it smells the same, but that it evokes a similar effect for me. This one is pretty clever and different for a "sport" fragrance, even if the laundry-sheet aldehydic dry down isn't quite my thing.

I definitely like it, but it doesn't excite me very much to wear it for an entire day at work, so I wear it at the gym. Two sprays under the shirt. It really blooms. I don't see myself getting another bottle after the 75ml is done.

Still can't figure out whether I like this in high heat or not. The citrus in the opening fades so incredibly fast on my skin, it's almost straight to airy-woody vibes. Also go anosmic half of the time, but oddly enough only happens when applied on skin, never on clothes.

Thanks, Makes me want to just get Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. I do not get the citrus aspect when I sniff it on my arm or back of my hand, not after 30 minutes or even two hours. I want to like it and love it but right now, am on the fence. I have Chanel Allure Homme Sport COlogne. Nice bright orange. Maybe linear but still, i love the scent. I am thinking Chanel Allure Homme won't last and so one of the Sport flankers is different enough to justify getting it instead of DHS 2021

I went today to lunch and stopped in Sephora. Sprayed Dior Homme Sport 2021 it on back of both my hands. It does seem to project more than Chanel Allure Homme Sport and it may last longer, but I also did not get any citrus I really wanted to find it. I get the woody/resinous aspect but I could not get a clear lemony or even citrusy scent. Really it was a very nice woody sort of vibe.

The salesman at Sephora said he would get one of the Allure Homme Sport flankers and he suggested the Eau Extreme since it lasted longer and projected better than th regular Sport. He thought the Ee would go to a skin scent maybe an hour before the Dior Sport would. He thought it would be fine in 90 plus degree weather and humidity, but if I was outside all day, to wear the Sport Cologne. He felt Allure Homme would not last or project even as well as the Homme Sport, though he liked the smell

If what the salesperson said is true enough, then it is Eau Extreme for me. I do get a fantastic sort of orange vibe on the Allure Homme Sport Cologne. It lasts at least six hours on the back of my hand
