Dior Homme Cologne or Dior Homme Sport

Went to Sephora with wife. Sprayed on Chanel Allure Homme Sport, Dior Homme Sport and Dior Homme Cologne. Wife liked all three. At first she liked DHC and then AHSC. After two hours she liked DHS.

I have Allure Homme Sport Cologne. I think I would prefer a Dior over getting another Chanel Allure. I don’t get much citrus in the DHS but it is interesting. Afraid DHC may not perform well

So which Dior for summer and into early fall, say humid Memphis and fine to 65° or so? Or convince me i do need Allure Homme Sport. The Eau extreme is too much vanilla/creamy I think

I find all 3 distinctly different

1) AHS - I own this and it’s really grown on me. It’s a citrus blast but it’s denser than other citrus type fragrances. A little bit of creaminess with vanilla etc. I think it’s feels richer than it should. Definitely a quality scent that I don’t think fits “Sport.”

2) DHC - This one..to me..differs from above because I find it more of a bright citrus that stays throughout. Almost effervescent. More floral. Brighter. Just more uplifting. I find the AHS above something that can fit casual snd business whereas this seems casual

3) DHS - This is about the new version. It’s nothing like the two above except a citrus note. The big difference is it’s mixed with a strong woody base. This is very well made and it surprised me how much I enjoyed it. Despite the woods..which you think might darken the citrus..the citrus stays bright. Some might find the woods the typical woody bass these days but I enjoy this overall

So really in my book it’s what kind of citrus mix you want

Toughcool. Do you find AHS cloying in high heat or humidity? And is it too much like DHC?

All of them are great on their own and due to different reasons.
Would personally choose and recommend choosing (if possible) all three and congratulate anyone ho chose if not all, at least as many as possible among these fresh masterpieces.

Hey @finsfan. I don’t find AHS cloying in heat at all. I think it’s great year around.

If you are nervous about that though I’d go DHC because I find it brighter and fresher than AHS. If you owned both I would find them dissimilar enough to use at different times

I am beginning to think DHC smells a lot like AHSC? Am I right or totally wrong? If so then Is either AHS or AHSEE sufficiently different to get it and still have AHSC? If not then I will get Dior Homme Sport. I like the DHS but I’m getting no citrus but am getting cedar

You may want to give Terre d'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche a sniff, you might like it.
Tried all of the Terre line. Bought and sold them. I think it’s between Allure Homme Sport, Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme or Dior Homme Sport. If the two Chanel’s are too much like the Allure Homme Sport Cologne then it is DHS by default.

Wife did not like the DHC after two hours. Was harder to smell and lost the citrus dominance and was more floral or white musk

Go with DHS.
DHC does have performance issues thought it can be fixed through overspray.

Get the Dior Homme Sport. You should try sampling the original 2008 release if you can, lemon and ginger dominates scent.

DHC and AHSC are not identical but extremely similar. DHC feels even more minimalistic and to my nose is really just an iced lemonade top note over white musk; AHSC has a more complex citrus opening over a similar musk with just a faint touch of Chanel florals and a hint of wood in the base. It feels slightly heavier than DHC and performs a bit better, but I get an odd celery note from AHSC that’s not in DHC. This is really nitpicking as these scents are more or less meant to do the exact same thing, but I prefer the simplicity of DHC.

I know you’ve been going back and forth on these same few scents for quite a while now, so perhaps worth getting more than one of them and rotating? They’re all in the same general zone, but if that’s your thing, it can’t hurt to have a couple options. Personally none of these are something I’d want to wear year round - AHSC and DHC are both pretty casual and very summery citruses. The others are probably more flexible, but they’re still bright freshies and generally more suited to warm weather. I would just caution that you may be chasing yourself in circles trying to find the “best” when that may not actually exist; all have their charms and weaknesses.

AHS in the high heat? Doesn’t work for me unless the application is super light and even then it’s not a fav in high temps and humidity. DHC is much better in the heat but unfortunately it tends to disappear very quickly. I’ve worn only older versions of DHS in the heat. Thought it worked well although I’m still not sure about DHS 2021. Only smelled it once and didn’t take to it but I’m trying to keep an open mind and will try it again in the future.

Hate to throw a monkey wrench into this but speaking of Dior (and Sephora), you may also want to check out Dior Homme 2020. May not be a prototypical hot weather scent but for me it works well in the heat and is also more versatile than any of the three you and your wife checked out at Sephora. Many BNers and fans of the prior releases are understandably upset with DH 2020 but others like me are very impressed with its versatility and overall excellence.

They are close enough that I wouldn't bother owning both.

CAHS and CAHSEE are quite a bit different from CAHSC so owning one of them wouldn't be redundant.

I would go with DHS because it lasts all day, the same of which certainly cannot be said for any in the Allure line. However, I did really like CAHS that I do partially regret selling it.
