Can’t imagine that Vegas’s retail scene will survive in its current OTT form much longer. It’s fun shopping there, but after dropping a lot of cash on hotels, meals, shows, nightclubs, and gambling, I’ve often wondered how many visitors have money left for shopping. That, coupled with undoubtedly high retail rents, and competition from online shopping, makes me wonder how sustainable all that high-end retail can be.
I liked Vegas better when the hotels were cheap, the drinks were comped, and casino buffet meals were loss leaders. Glam shopping is fun, but it doesn’t really fit the naughty adult vice appeal that Vegas was built on.
